What happened if Col. Augustus Autumn survived Fallout 3

Lone Cat

It Wandered In From the Wastes
What happened if ... in the endings of Fallout 3. Lone Wanderer chose to negotiate with Augustus Autumn and he agreed to leave and made it out?
Since the F4 (nor the New Vegas) said nothing about his fate... beyond that the LW opted not to infect the Project Purity, (and almost died in an irradiated chamber, he did survive though) and further assisted the Eastcoast Brotherhood of Steel invaded Adams AFB and mopped out Enclave goons out of the CW. a decade has passed and so the BoS leaderships, BoS became an only legitimate government (later modelled themselved after Arthurian Knights) in the entirety of Columbia Commonwealth, and began exerting their powers up north... in the New England Commonwealth (or just Commonwealth), there were also Enclave survivor somewhere (at least one admitted he was), but not much, nor that survivor ever mentions Col. Autumn or what happened to him... basically no one said whether did LW killed or talked him out.

If Autumn survived F3 endings,
1. Should he make it out of the CW alive?
2. if he escaped CW intact. what next is he likely to do? where should he go?
3. Providing that the Courier successfully recruited the Enclave Remnants to join the 2nd Battle of Hoover Dam and the Remnants survived. (with Yes Man ending), Is there a possibility that Autumn will meet with these Remnants and informed what happened in the Mojave? did he really believe that he could seek any fortune or a chance to revive the Enclave in New Vegas? (and ultimately exact revenge upon the NCR)

I think he died regardless of what LW did.

Autumn in FO3 hasn't got any character development (or any character). He's shown as melodramatic trigger-finger maniac with OCD, so I think if he got out of Jefferson's Rotunda he got killed later by some raiders/supermutants.

The moment he exits the memorial he would get blasted by Liberty Prime so screw it and kill the bastard yourself.

I think Pwener is onto something here. Liberty Prime is programed to kill any Enclave personnel he detects, or even anyone that is not Brotherhood of Steel (we don't know for sure). So I think he would indeed blast Autumn on sight.

Even if Liberty Prime didn't blast Autumn, the Brotherhood of Steel soldiers (including the Lyons Pryde) that follow Liberty Prime would probably not let Autumn escape, since Autumn is the leader of the Enclave by then, and the Brotherhood wants to completely eradicate the Enclave.

And even if by any miracle Autumn escaped Project Purity, he would have to wander the wasteland by himself. The enclave was totally destroyed, settlements would know by then that the Enclave is total evil and probably know about Autumn, so I doubt they would accept him or deal with him in any way. Autumn is an Enclave officer, I doubt he knows how to survive in the wasteland with just a raincoat and a small weapon and without any troops protecting him.

Well, thing is, he does escape if you let him go. Stupid I know. During the 2 week transition to begin Broken Steel you hear Elder Lyons say "He/She just let him go?" or something to that effect if you spare Autumn.

Yes, but he might just be surprised that the Lone Wanderer let Autumn go...

Imagine that Elder Lyons is there reading the reports of the purifier battle and it says "Colonel Autumn was killed by Pryde sniper when leaving Project Purity."

So he goes and asks why was Colonel Autumn leaving Project Purity. The answer is "Apparently, the kid let him go."
Reply from Elder Lyons "He/She just let him go?"

Yeah, then he immediately offers to make you a Knight to go fight the Enclave - the kid that let their leader go. He must be going senile the poor old bastard.

That and the fact they don't figure out you poisoned the water if you do go that route just proves how insanely stupid Fallout 3 can be. The BoS drink that water, you telling me none of them have died yet in the two weeks we spend in a coma?!

Specially since the PC dies after drinking 3 of those water bottles. What is hilarious is that the PC will die if anyone drinks 3 of those bottles of water, because of a bug in the code, the game is counting bottles drank by NPCs. :lmao:

I have never poisoned the water. Is this true? They must have patched it. They must have. Ah what the hell, it's Bethesda. They probably figured modders would do it for them and screw the console peasants.

The Canon ending is that the project is not infected.

If the parts is chosen. will Autumn ever made it safely to Chicago? (in New Vegas, it is hinted that the Enclave still garrison Chi (not sure if Fallout Tactics is taken as Canon or to which extents it has been taken), but that's what we known (Through Eyebot Ed E)

All we know about Autumn outside of F3 is him being mentioned in one of Ed-E's recordings as having ordered the construction of Hellfire armor. But since he can die during the events of F3 I very much doubt they'll use him in the future.
