Who'll get the Pirates of the Caribbean game?

Well, it's not related to the movie.

It's the follow-up to the (IMHO) very good Sea Dogs, and is the replacement for Sea Dogs 2.

It's totally open ended, and released by Bethesda (of Morrowind fame)

What are your opinions?

Opinions are really divided, some give it 50% reviews, others 80%.

It seems the start of the game is ridled with bugs and bad design choices, but the rest is lots of fun, i really have to try it before i give an opinion about it.

Yea, I think I might pick it up when the price drops. From what I heard, Sea Dogs 2 was supposed to be AMAZING, but a lot of features got axed when it became Pirates of the Caribean so it could be released with the movie. For instance, the planned ability to serve one of like 6 nations? was cut down to just the english. So idk... as a 50$ game, I'm not sure it's worth the money... but if I can get it at 30 or less I may pick it up.

Bethesda's non-Elder Scrolls games aren't too good.

And it's Bethesda, so it's going to be riddled with bugs and glitches.

You f*cking traitor. The game actually doesn't look to bad and pirates are always good.

I played a little bit of Pirates of the Caribbean and I can say it has its charms, and it would probably be playable if it weren't for absolutely terrible combat system! Basically, all you can do is swing your sword at the opponent and try to dodge his attack, but it's so lamely done that it reminds me of playing Barbarian on C64. Other than that, the game seems to be pretty good. You have absolute freedom of movement and a huge gaming world (like in Morrowind), there are also some RPG elements, but it lacks the atmosphere and possibilities of Sid Meier's Pirates. Stupid enemies like skeletons (I assume they were added because there are skeletons in the movie) spoil the setting, and ability to explore entire islands is seems to be more of an eyecandy than a real addition. IMHO, Morrowind is a much better game.

All in all, I'd say you shouldn't pick up Pirates Of The Caribbean. You will probably just end up frustrated and hating Disney for ruining what could have been a great game.
