I usually refuse to pay to see comedies, but I would see this in theaters more than likely.

Hancock is the name of it I think.
 
You don't think it'll be funny?
It's a comedy ya know, not to be taken too seriously. The idea is to get a laugh... not to make someone question their worldviews or to rivet them to some drama.
 
It looks funny. I got a good laugh off the whale thing, but somehow I doubt it will be 'all that', as the kids say.
As a rule there are no funny comedies, only funny comedy movie trailers.
Name the last truly funny comedy you saw.
 
Do TV shows count?
If so: arrested development.
If not: I <3 Huckabees was very funny to me.
Clerks 2 was great, and so was Clerks.

I dunno, I prefer well written stories with a slight comedic twist to it than just full-on comedies.

Yep, except that even most trailers suck too. I didn't find anything that amusing about this one either.

I thought Superbad was hilarious though.

Doesn't this movie seem to fall square into the latter category to you? It does to me.
It's got a Scary Movie vibe all over it, except now we have an influx superhero/comic book movies that need parodies as opposed to horror movies.

Also, what's that Huckabee movie? Is it like clerks? Because I really like clerks :)

Oh yeah, Superbad was good. Believable characters ftw.
 
Holly shit does this look awesome to me. It's a bit different of a role for Will Smith.

I kinda like him as an actor. He can pull off both funny and serious roles equally well but in this one he just looks really sucky. Not interested or something.

I'm glad he's doing a comedy of sorts again but it doesn't look like he's trying very hard. Which sucks cause he can be funny.
 
I laughed a few times in the trailer. Just hope those aren't the only good parts worth watching. I have said it before and I will say it again; I am impressed with Will Smiths ability to play multiple roles.

I can. Every time I see him in anything, I can't help but have the theme to Fresh Prince running through my head.

I also can't think of any film he's been good in.

I agree with Sua, the idea is good, but the choice of lead actor is poor and the whole thing is just too deliberate. OMG - Look he's disheveled! He's rude! He doesn't care!

Eh? You just poked fun at the plot not the character, contradicting your statement.

I can't say I've seen him act poorly. Even in Independence Day I enjoyed his performance. Id venture that the Pursuit of Happiness was one of his best films.

And the Fresh Prince... Please, who doesn't like the Fresh Prince or his music of the 90's! "You saw my blinker bitch!"

I think he portrayed being alone VERY WELL, and just having a dog as your friend.. It's also a strong moment when the dog dies and he has to strangle it :o
