I thought this movie could be good but i also thought it was about the first mission of the crew and not about their academy days. It may have less action then i thought it would. Still wait and see.
But one thing that strikes me as odd. Spock was half human with a Vulcan father and a human Mother. Here they say that Rider plays 'the Vulcan mother of a young Spock'. Seems like they didn't do their research.
Simon Pegg (Scotty) and Karl Urban (McCoy) will have roles so that's a bonus.
