Wouldn't the Vault Dweller leave more than his Vault suit behind?

This always boggled my mind, you would think that the Vault Dweller would leave something to his/her descendant so they would have a better chance, back in Fallout 1 you would get a 10mm Pistol from the locker, so wouldn't it make sense that at the end of the trial you would find like a stash or something with the pistol and 10mm ammo so at least you would have the same start that she/he did?

He didn't leave the suit for his descendant. He left his past behind him soon after defeating the Master, the past which was embodied in Vault items. When he left Arroyo for good, he probably took only the most necessary things for his own survival.
The villagers later started venerating the items as holy relics after his departure. Chosen One came a lot later, and he wasn't the first person to pass the Trial either.
