Xbox360 and VGA connection to LCD Monitor

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Well I am having massive problems.

Let me set the situation:

I have an Xbox360, an Acer 17" monitor that is connected using the Microsoft VGA cable. The problem I am having is a display problem. After playing for about 30 minutes, the screen looks like the image is "tearing" and often blacks out for 1 second, then comes back on again, then blacks out again.

The tearing is odd, I tried to get a picture, but it didn't work. It is like certain colours come up across the screen and warp the images on it. It is just odd, and have no idea what causes it.

Then after some time, there are no images being displayed on the monitor at all...

Right now, I am thinking it may be the monitor, but it works fine when I connect it to my PC. Then, I thought it would be the Xbox360, but it works fine on another TV we have, using the standard yellow, red, white connector. THEN, I though it may be the VGA cable playing up, but I don't know how I could test this.

Any ideas? It really sucks, and I want to play Gears of War!!!

Don't use an X-Box!

That really shouldn't be the cable, it sounds more like a video-card problem to me. But if it doesn't happen on another TV, it almost has to be the cable.
Test the cable on something else, or get a new cable. There's no (other) way of knowing whether or not it's the cable.

Hmm, yeah, I don't want to buy another AU$50 cable just for a test, that may as well be a problem with the Xbox. Maybe I should see if a friend has a monitor, and use my cable on that. But I used the Xbox on a normal SD TV, and seemed to work fine, maybe if I used it for a little longer, to see if it some kind of issue with the video card, or maybe an overheating issue :?

Anywho, thanks

well, it could be RAMDAC corruption, but i doubt it. best guess is overheating or the cable.

the only thing you can do is play on the tv for an extended amount of time to try and see if it's overheating or not.

if that fails, try to borrow a cable from someone.

if you buy a new one, make sure it's not too long (image tends to degrade) or that it is well shielded (but that's expensive).

Well, you see it doesn't happen straight away. After say, about 30 minutes the images start to corrupt, and piss me off :?

So what I can do is try use the LCD on a PC, and see if it is the monitor, and figure out what's going on from there.

EDIT: I can almost but rule out overheating of the Xbox, as I have that intercooler thing that blasts the hot air out of it. By far the best peripheral for the 360 :P

EDIT 2: I moved my Xbox360 to another TV, just a Standard Def screen (and obviously using another cable, the basic RCA cable), and lo and behold, the thing still fucked up. So I guess I need a new Xbox, so thank God for annual guarantees!

EDIT 3:

As it happens, I have an extended warranty of sorts, which gives me a NEW 360 if my original fucks up. Me = :D
