Nerding out on internet purchases

Akratus

Bleep bloop.
Some time ago I came into some money, being a person of little expenditure and much . . nerditure, I opted to make just a few purchases online to expand my so far pitiful collections of movies, games etc. I'm really looking into getting some of my favorite movies on blu-ray.

Here's the list:

-The Dark Crystal Blu Ray
-The world of the Dark Crystal artbook

And the latest, not yet arrived:
-Blade Runner 2 disc Bluray set

What I still plan to purchase is the hobbit, silmarillion and children of hurin in english.

What have you bought, do you plan on buying or wish to buy once the opportunity/right price presents itself?

Officially licensed Star Trek Tea. It's Earl Grey that comes in a tin can that says 'Tea. Earl Grey. Hot.'
My erection, when I first discovered that on thinkgeek.com, had to be measured in cosmic units.

Now that's hardcore stuff right there.

Also, I couldn't resist, couldn't wait any longer. I purchased the hobbit, silmarillion and children of hurin in english with a hard cover.

My dad bought them all before, but those are in dutch. And well. . .

I also found gandalf and bilbo tea searching for those books, but I'm content with the particular brand of green lemon tea. It is the one tea to rule them all.

I bought it a while ago but it's relevant because it's my Avatar.

I bought a prop Cyberman helmet used in filming Doctor Who during the 80's, it's pretty cool actually, and it sits on the fireplace well.

I also bought a replica Master Chief helmet from the cancelled Halo movie, but it's in storage at the moment.

I've been meaning to get an Eva-01 action figure/toy, a huge mech from Neon Genesis Evangelion.
There are decent ones out on the market, relatively cheap given the size, quality etc. but the shipping prices are a killer. Top of all, Amazon doesn't ship anything aside from books and CDs to my country, so...no nerd fetishism.

I got:
New Vegas Collector's Edition
2 Volumes of Dorohedoro
4 Volumes of Twentieth Century Boys
A statue of the Comedian.
Little Croocked Vein
Bleeding Edge.
THey might not seem like much but I am pretty sure I am the only person in Colombia with a volume of Dorohedoro.

I've got some "unique" stuff too, as in, I don't think many people in my country, if anybody, has it.
Those mainly fall into the music category, rare vinyls and CDs etc.
But that's hardly nerdiness of the sort we're talking about here.

I purchased the hobbit, silmarillion and children of hurin in english with a hard cover.

I have a leather bound Lord of the Rings printed on Bible paper (that super thin paper), so the 3 books are bound in one volume. I think it cost about $200 about 20 years ago. :wiggle:

I've never bought anything on-line, I'm too suspicious.

I was like that for a time, but with proper tools and ways, there's nothing to worry about, really.
I find online shopping to be in many ways practical, and so far less frustrating, than regular shopping.

We've got this system called iDEAL in the netherlands. It's fucking great. You get linked to your bank's website, log in, put in an SMS code and boom your package is on it's way.

It's been a while since I purchased things online. I found it way too easy to keep clicking money away. Last stuff I did buy were comics, books, and music.

I bought several art books from Amazon because they were not sold in the stores in my region. But when they arrived they'd slapped several taxes on top of the Amazon price so in the end I paid three times as much  I made a promise to read all the fine print and click on all links and google a bit before ordering anything online in the future, but... haven't ordered anything since. Lazy, lazy me.

I am subscribed to a service that ships internet orders as personal packages so we are not affected by the fucking arbitrary import taxes we have in Colombia (if only they reflected on shit). They just make order for it to arrive to a PO Box in Miami and then they just send it as a personal package, the only extra we pay are the shipping charges that don't bloat the price nearly as much as the taxes do. It's all legal ......technically, and It's awesome.

I just purchased a Medieval Crusader Helmet replica.

I'm buying it for two reasons, the first is that it'll look great in my House, the second is that I'm cosplaying Solaire for MCM London.

I'm sure you can all recognize these. Of course, nobody I've seen in real life has so far, but that was my expectation.
Make sure the Dutch Ghost doesnt see these, I have to present them with nerd glee to him in person.

A new scanner: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA3YN1BN9801

But more likely... a 3d printer of some kind.

I have a few Silmarillion hardbacks. I tried buying a 1st edition Worm Ouroboros a while back; I found it in a French Quarter book shop... but it was sold by the time I had the money for it. I'd buy one if I could find it and had ready cash.

That's certainly a nice stash. I've got to remember to buy me a copy of Watchmen some time as well. The only comics I ever owned were lucky luke, that kind of thing.
