Fallout 1 mod Anyone have any interest in seeing Scrapheap reintroduced?

Mutant Screg

Totally not a mutant
For those that don't know, the Fallout beta featured a town called Scrapheap. It looks a lot like Junktown and might even be an early concept of it, except for the fact that people in Scrapheap directly mention Junktown as a separate entity. Now, if there's enough interest in it, I'm planning on adding Scrapheap back to the game. There'll be some minor tweaks, such as changing up the layout to make it unique from Junktown and changing some NPCs that appear elsewhere in the main game. To add some more depth to it, there will be a quest or two added as well. Nothing huge, but just enough to make Scrapheap real and not just Junktown Lite.

Yes.. the idea is cool. I always wanted to play scrapheap in Fixt mod. there is a problem however, there is no way to add another map location via mapper ( town limit ). I've figured the best way to enter scrapheap would be by script right after exiting vault 13 cave. The idea behind it is that it's early in the game and character is not geared enaugh to rotflstomp the area yet. another "+" behind it is that it enables a way to get early acces to some big guns weapon (one of gang leaders in scrap heap is sepose to be equipped with one). The only big "-" is that until engine conversion there is no way to put this location on world map, so the chances to revisit are slim, unless otherwise scripted (like a text node for a person in shady sands scripted to take you to scrapheap).

EDIT:

Same thing goes for two other raider camps Killian Darkwater mentions The Vipers and The Jackals. they were seposedly wiped out by Brotherhood of Steel..
How about making a quest from Talus to wipe them out in return get the rank of palladin and acces to Brotherhood Armory (there would be also a cowboy way besides the Fixt added sneaky approch to do this).

If i am not wrong, Scrapheap is already featured in Megamod (mod for Fo2, not Fo1, although)

I'd like to have this location added in a bigger adventure, like Fo1 or Fo2. And i don't think people would mind much to have new place to explore. Plus, it could bring more attention to that location that most people don"t know. Also, it would be easier to translate if ported into a more familiar engine. (the fallout demo has its own engine)

On the other hand, it won't be the best location added i guess. I looks very very simple compared with the rest of the game location. There is also the question of finding where to put that map into the game. Also, part of the demo's charm is that you can't save, which makes it some kind of ironman challenge.

It's a cool location... for a demo. I wouldn't want it in my Fo1, though. It obviously is extremely similar to Junktown. Also it just doesn't fit the rest of the game, imo.

Sounds great! I would like something new in Fallout 1 since I've already played it to death. It must be located in the vicinity of Junctown aight?

The future of Fixt is as a Fallout 2 mod. Would the engine change solve the problem?

As i recall some folks at modding comunity increased the town limit for fo2 (it's far bigger than in fo1 anyway) so i think that would solve it. However as Lexx said in another thread fo1 to fo2 engine conversion is waaaay further away than just behind the corner, hence as of current it is wiser to mod Fo1.

EDIT: Besides don't post under your posts if nobody else replied, it is sought as offensive on the internet forums. Instead if in a similar situation agin try to use post edit function:p

Yes, I'd like to see it as an optional feature (customizable installation). It would be cool if the player could visit Scrapheap and obtain a big gun relatively early. It would probably affect the game balance for better or worse, I don't know. Maybe it should be a ,,secret'' location? Yeah, somebody could also take the player to Scrapheap.
