New games today vs. The Games of Yesteryear

Hello! I've been an avid Fallout gamer since the first one was released in 1997. I have my frustrations with today's renditions, as I'm sure you all do, but on the whole I have been very entertained by the new games that have been coming out. Just the idea that one can enjoy the lore in greater detail that is more in-your-face? Awesome.

However, I hear a lot of complaining about today's games, primarily with how un-finished they are upon release. I've gathered the following ideas to hopefully help with the pain of today's games and their release quality, versus Ye Olde Timey Games and how they were usually more free of bugs and generally more complete games, not always, but seemingly more functional than what is being produced today.
(Granted, I'm not a programmer and I haven't created any mods, I just play the game and have learned a few things. Maybe you already know these things and are replying with the intent to make me look like the idiot I am - well there's really no need for help with that, I'm doing a great job by myself, lol! However, please reply with any helpful corrections or additions that I might have missed, thanks!)

First off, release quality. I don't have to tell folks that have played the more recent Fallout games that there are bugs. I'll just start with 76. I started playing it about a month and a half ago, well after the initial chaos and confusion and silliness of the initial release (I wanted to avoid all the GTA-like behavior, and from what I've heard, I mostly did). Now, we're all aware that there could have been improvements. But here's my thing: everyone wants their Christmas presents now before it's time to actually open them. These games are being released as quickly as possible because so many people want the new one as soon as humanly possible. That just causes a permanent snowball effect in which more effort is placed in the multi-player aspects such as Battle Royale modes and other PvP things that, in my opinion, are kind of against what Fallout is about (Freaking EVERYONE wants to be a raider, the parasite format is fun for them). I totally understand and appreciate that we have the power to blow a comrade away just because, but just because you can, does that mean you SHOULD? The rewards for helping other people are far greater than simply taking their junk.

But I digest.

I guess that is my major point about games today versus games from the olden days. Back then, folks were a bit more patient (Hey, need a reply to that letter? you gotta wait a few days), and games were released a bit more complete. Now, we're forced to pay extra for games that are much less complete upon release, and after the main games is done, I mean you can't not play the DLC that looks so awesome, right?

I say just remain patient, Let's see what the new patch will have in store for us. And hopefully I've caught the attention of some like-minded folks that are playing 76 as well - I'm in it for the mobs and the caps, I don't go hunting people wishing for PvP, thanks.

I'm not sure just how more patient people were back in the old days, but these people didn't have the luxury of expecting Day One patches in their games.

I'm just here because the title drew me in. I thought it was something completely different, but I still think people can learn from this, somehow.
