I downloaded the free fallout 1 version via the Bethesda launcher. It says version 1.2 but I want to use the child patch

anyone know where a child patch that is compatible with this version?

Bethesda is doing a disservice, offering a censored version, if what you said is true.

I found the Children Patch in Drobovik's Fallout database:

I was like where are the kids lol
But I found a solo patch and got the kids back.

It sure makes destroying Shady Sands or not less of a dilemma. And less realistic, if you ask me (it's not like the radiation exposure destroyed the reproductive organs of the entire population. If you use a Geiger Counter in the town you'll see it's not a dangerous zone, at least in that way).

Depending on the background you made for your character, he/she may open an exception for children. Who knows what they'll become, they could turn out like you.

It's even stranger in the second game (the censored version), where you can capture people to be slaved. Or sexually harass the daughter of a butcher. Or throw a land mine, at a poor sucker who tried to rob a rich gang leader, and escape his wrath.
All these things are okay, yet punching a boy's scrotum for stealing a quest item from your inventory, is not (the kids drunk an invisibility potion. They're still there).
