    TheGameReviews previews Fallout 3

No-one ever claimed Fallout 3 was about divine magic, Kyle. My point is that I can to some degree understand why they point out that death in Fallout is permanent, since (a) most "modern" "rpgs" feature some kind of revival from death, (b) MMORPG's, which - like it or not - is what is mostly...

    TheGameReviews previews Fallout 3

While death was permanent in Fallout, death is definately not permanent in all (non-mmorpg) RPGs. For instance, in Baldurs Gate you could revive your dead team members through magic and in temples. IIRC there was a similar system in Icewind Dale.

Fallout 3 hands-on at E3 is press only

Please show me where I stated that non-journalists would be able to play the game before release, BN. My premise was always that it would be playable on E3, which is a press-only event. I argued for the fact that it might be on the E3 show floor, not placed on the streets outside the venue or...

Fallout 3 hands-on at E3 is press only

Wether or not everyone attending E3 gets to play it (ie. it's part of a Bethesda booth at the show floor), or Bethesda themselves handpicks a handfull of journalists already on the E3-list to play it is not completely clear from the wording. Still, I find the first option more likely, as it is...

Usually, when companies bring hands-on builds to E3 it is playable by anyone attending the show. Also, the "journalists" at E3 are anything but carefully selected - I heard people got in because they worked behind the counter at Wall Mart. Maybe it's a bit stricter now that the show is smaller...

[...] the next time we see Fallout 3, it’ll be playable. Yep, the E3 build will be hands-on. I'm not a native engilsh speaker, but I read that sentence as if Hines is saying that the next time they'll show the game to the press, they will get to play it.

Interplay is heading for the Wii!

Since Virtual Console is nothing but an emulation of the old software distributed digitally, there is no development costs, nor any shipping, repacaging or marketing costs involved. Releasing your games on VC is pretty much free money, and thus makes a whole lot of sense for a company in as deep...

    videogaming247 continues

I'm not basing my assumptions on Bethesdas gameshow habits (which I know very little about), I am basing it around the common terminology used at these game shows: showcased = behind closed doors and not played by attendees, playable = at show floor, playable by anyone attending the show.

The floor: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY1anKmcRZ0 I know E3 went through some changes last year, but I'm sure there's still a show floor. A place where all the attendants check out the booths of the various game developers/publishers attending and get to try out their games. Last year...

As far as I know, "playable at E3" usually means playable on the floor - aka not for invitees only, behind closed doors. If that is the case, we will at least see some off-screen videos.

How did you discover Fallout ?

I played the demo because it came on a CD in a computer magazine I bought. I played the demo to death, trying out all the possibilities, and proceeded to buy the game shortly after. In addition to loving the different paths you could take in the demo, there was one moment I remember very...

    bit-tech.net previews Fallout 3

The fact that Super Mutants are percieved as (only) bad guys in Fallout makes the confrontation with the Master a lot more evocative, I think. You spend the whole game believeing them to be pretty generic bad-guys, until you realize that they are part of a grander scheme to advance humanity and...

    Games Radar Loves the Story

I was really into X-files at the time Fallout 2 came out, so I found the scenario with the Enclave being the US shadow goverment, intent on cleansing the world and stating anew, very appealing and evocative. Still, the story in Fallout 1 is a few notches better, and feels more original. I...

Indeed. It seems every other interview has at least one question regarding the backlash from the Fallout community. Even if most of them are supportive of Betheda's new direction for Fallout, it still places focus on the fact that not everyone loves what Bethesda is doing to RPGs.
