Just a heads up, this FADE that gamasutra quoted is a cover site for vgchartz.org, which pulls their numbers out of their ass most of the time. so take it with a grain of salt.

eh i played through F3 at launch without mods on pc and it was pretty stable for me, with maybe an occassional CTD or random whip lashing ragdoll, but nothing like new vegas, where even walking around and looking at an npc or talking to one sends my framerate from 80 to 20...

ah well there goes my theory lol, I'm kind of foggy on F3 lore atm, I remember mutants in the vault talking about green goo to make more, but I dont remember if they ever expanded on it. and unfortunately aside from Fawkes and Uncle Leo, no other mutants are friendly.

Yeah, but when I played Fallout 3, I understood that basically the "Brotherhood of Steel" in that game was really the "outcasts" in the fallout universe, and that the Outcast (as they were labeled in Fallout 3) were more true to the original order.
