As I said... the state of the HD should in no way hinder the comp from booting up from floppy. Have you checked that the boot-disk you made boots up any other computer? And have you checked those little pins on the back of the floppy drive which sets the floppy to slave/master?

Hmm. The HD shouldn't really have anything to do with the ability to boot up from a floppy. The drive might be damaged. But... have you tried to mess around with the boot/floppy drive settings in the BIOS? I don't know how much you actually know about hardware but if you're unsecure it could...
