    Ulysses (spoilers)

What's your source on the bit I quoted above? I'm also curious where Ulysses was mentioned as possible DLC potential -- I've always taken that as wishful thinking on the part of us forum dwellers and not anything sourced officially ( I was under the impression that all Avellone said was that it...

    First Dead Money review out

Wow.. I was ready to ignore this title but almost every negative he referenced sound more like positives or non-issues. I actually like what he terms the Resident Evil (or, what I call System Shock) style of building up tension and story through long discarded logs. There is something poignant...

Thanks for the prompt reply. I wonder what happens if you access it too early (or how they go about preventing one for doing so).

Just out of curiosity, what level should one be before attempting the DLC? I'm only level 6 and just got to Novac following the main quest. I doubt it's something I should feel like getting into just yet but I'd eventually enjoy tackling it. It doesn't scale, I presume..

There is no scam here. Let's us not forget the time factor here. You get access to the content deemable as a complete play experience far sooner than if you waited for the GOTY edition. That, in and of itself, is worth something.

Major Nelson Podcast interviews Jason Bergman

My apologies for the misquote, I was pretty dead tired when replying earlier (in that "coming off like an acid head" sorta way if out in public). That aside, I think the crux of my objection to your objection this invalidity you feel comes from directly comparing different experience through...

Major Nelson Podcast interviews Jason Bergman

Um, for your "eye rolley" to make any sense you'd have to refute the fact we don't get expansions still. We do. I listed two notable ones that have come out in the last few years. Others exist, especially in other genres (but I digress with that). Hell, Broken Steel and/or Point Lookout (or...

Yeah, like Shivering Isles for Oblivion or Awakenings for Dragons Age... the good old days.

Major Nelson Podcast interviews Jason Bergman

First off, going to the cinema isn't inherently a social experience. Even when done in a group, it's a fairly anti-social activity. Secondly, why is it nonsense to translate different experiences? Saying it doesn't make it so, can you give a reason? This is done in social science all the...

Major Nelson Podcast interviews Jason Bergman

I like the way you think. I've long used a similar litmus for determining the worth of my time and money (we economists call it an opportunity cost analysis). I'm just curious how they plan to keep low level characters from falling into this DLC (I'm unsure whether it was itemized above but...

The Obligatory "What are you listening to" Thread

This (and you should be too). It's a cute (and free) interactive E.P. by one of my favorite, forward thinking musicians. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJAdmAL8KNE http://www.timexile.com/interactive/

Trainspotter's Nightmare: FO2 Music in New Vegas Question.

Hey guys, does anybody know the name of the track from the Fallout 2 soundtrack that plays on the NCR side of Primm anytime you're near Haye's tent? It's a subtle remix of something very familiar (too subtle, sadly). Still, it made me smile to stumble across it. You know, I never...

It exhibited better writing as well (an aspect touched on critically as well as on the personal level).

    Dead Money trailer out

I liked Icewind Dale II far more than the original, for what it's worth. 'Course, Fallout 3 would have been better received by me (and several years earlier, as I only got around to ID II in 2008).

Fallout: New Vegas patch 1.2 out on Steam

.. which is precisely why I popped in Fallout 2 over the last few months and waited on New Vegas until today. :)

    Dead Money trailer out

*Shudders* I vaguely remember having a happy memory or two connected to Fallout 3. However, all those memories are on the FAR opposite side of where my Operation: Anchorage memories sit. That DLC single handed changed my option on Fallout 3 from "meh, it is what it is" to "this game raped my...

[FO2] The Den and those annoying pick pockets.

...but, if the kids aren't working with Tubby then why do they run right to him? Anyhoo.. I read somewhere that killing Tubby cuts off a vital supply of ammo for the early portion of the game. Truth? I find it hard to believe but I figured it was worth asking. (p.s. nah, I'm just playing...

[FO2] The Den and those annoying pick pockets.

Just a passing curiosity: I'm replaying Fallout 2 for the first time in what feels like 15 years (10? I dunno) and just got to The Den. Far more so than I remember, those little blighters in The Den have been robbing me blind of all my caps. Noticing that they ran straight to Tubby, I...
