    Stalker: Call of Pripyat

I'm a little surprised that this hasn't been discussed yet. According to gamespot, it was released on february 2., although I didn't notice until it was released on steam yesterday, with a 10 euro discount If you have either Soc or Clear Sky registered to your account. I bought it...

    Verizon blocks 4chan.

I agree completely with this. I've never really used 4chan myself, so I can't comment on the quality of the site, but from what I've heard about it, I can't see why it should be censored. Does anyone know what reason, if any, Verizon has given for this?

Screenshots in Master of Orion II

If you're running the Dos version, you can capture images via Dosbox.

    World War 1 game

I don't know why everybody seems to think that WW1 was all about trench warfare. There were several other fronts, besides the western front, which btw didn't start out entrenched. In fact, I think the rapidly changing military doctrines might make such a WW1 game particularly interesting.

    What game was this?

Correct. I'd have thought it was going to take a bit longer, though.

    What game was this?

That's KGB. edit: This one might be a little obscure, but I remember it as a great game. In fact it's probably the first shooter I played that actually tried to tell a story: edit 2: I don't think anyone would mind if you posted an image out of turn. Just go for it. :)

    World War 1 game

There's a strategy game called WW1: La Grande Guerre, which was an absolute disaster when it came out about a year ago. Since then, a bunch of patches has been released, though, and the game has improved a lot. I believe a gold version will be out soon, which should improve the game further...

    Dwarf Fortress

I've put it on hold until the next version comes out (which shouldn't be long, according to the road map) but I have to admit that Dwarf Fortress is one of my all-time favourite games. I usually play with the mayday tileset, which makes it slightly prettier/less ugly, but there's a utility...

    Local Cinema

Personally, what I really liked was the atmosphere of the film. The story was pretty good, too, though, and I was impressed by how well the children act. Child actors can - and often do - completely ruin a film.

    Local Cinema

The Belgian film, C'est arrivé près de chez vous is excellent, if you can get your hands on a subtitled copy (unless you speak French, of course). The Swedish film, Let the Right One In is also great, and it's fairly new. I think it may actually have been shown in a few theaters in the US.

    What game was this?

That's High Seas Trader. A pretty decent game, as I recall. This one isn't that old, but it seems to be a bit underexposed:

    Joysticks

I asked for joystick advice a while back in this thread. I ended up buying a Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2, which I'm very happy with (I'm still not sure if the FF works with Windows 7, though), but it's not for left-handed people. Based on the recommendations in that thread, though...

    Dungeon Keeper 1 & 2

I prefer the sequel, although to be honest, it has been a long time since I played the first one. I remember them being very, very similar in terms of gameplay, so I think chances are you're going to like the second one, if you liked the first.

    Armageddon 2: Russia vs Apophis

So the the head of the Russian space agency is gathering plans to save the earth, but can't remember which year it's supposed to happen? This whole thing sounds like too much vodka to me.

Yeah, that one had me laughing as well. :)

    Steam Holiday Sale

I just got the Splinter Cell games and Jade Empire. I also bought Riddick yesterday, based on the recommendation in this thread, and I'm having a lot of fun with it, so thanks. I'm not sure I'll have time to play all these games anytime soon, but what the hell.

    Steam Holiday Sale

There are both steady deals, which last until january 3rd, and then there are daily deals, which last a day. Torchlight was a daily deal, so that's why the price has jumped.

    Steam Holiday Sale

Apparantly, a thirty day counter kicks in when you install it the third time. After 30 days you get 3 new installs, so it's not a big deal, imo. Yeah, I just had my first crash, after exiting the swamp level. I can't say that I cared much for that level, either.

    Steam Holiday Sale

Yeah, I bought Stalker: Shadows of Chernobyl and Sniper Elite for a grand total of 3,38 euros, a few days ago. I know people here have been praising Stalker, but I just assumed it was bullshit. As it turns out, it's pretty damn good. I think I'll be buying the prequel, too.
