I fixed it on my own, im retarded and i made my DATA folder read only by accident, saving works again, still don't know how to get F2SE to work with the new RPU however

First, make sure you havent installed BOTH the Unofficial Patch and the Restoration Project because you only need the RP and installing the UP will fuck up the other one. If you have royally screwed yourself dont worry, backup your saves and reinstall the game, this time installing JUST the RP...

You cant use any other sfall versions with the RP only the one that comes with that version of the RP. Having same issue, have done multiple reinstallations and still have numerous bugs, cant finish the sulik mission because the Umbra tribe is just a black screen with no exit grids, constantly...
