Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
I think:

Own Planescape on GOG or Steam or both but saw a guy selling these and wanted a physical copy. Never played the other game but had to have it since Troika.

Yea as pictured, both in boxes with nice thick manuals.

Best thing about it is I don’t even have a cd drive on my laptop. Got them more just to have them. Will eventually play TOEE though.

ToEE is quite a pain in the ass, unless you're a D&D veteran. You will need a well balanced party, because that game has no patience for newbs or snowflakes! It doesn't pull any punches.

The storyline is also pretty weak & vague. But if you like D&D mechanics, it's great.

As for Arcanum... Well, one of the best RPGs ever made ofc.

Yea, there was something of the sort about TOEE that I've read somewhere at some point. Not the storyline part. That part is surprising.

But yea, I actually suck at D&D because I can never remember anything but I'm currently playing BG so it might prep me somewhat. Don't know if I will have enough patience to jump into TOEE without replaying Arcanum again though. It's been about 7 or 8 years I'd say.

Made me smile when I saw the manuals for both games. These things are at least half an inch thick. Some things are never coming back.

What about my comment about the story caught you off guard? There's very little progression overall. It's mostly "here's a setting for you to do your thing in, have fun". There's a few nice twists but the game is mechanics oriented, not story oriented.
