Ok, I'm scrapping my old story. It's a bit sudden but I felt that the other one was getting too...claustrophobic. I need to break free of it and give my character some room to breathe.
(I'll still keep the same character)
Now, on with the story!
...........
Flame sparks from the zippo lighter as Kane lights another cigarette. He has been wandering through the desert for three days now, and there is no sign of civilisation, endless desert stretches as far as the eye can see.
Kane is dressed in a modified combat leather jacket, covered by a long, dusty black trenchcoat with a built-in cloak and hood.
He carries a sawn-off shotgun, a Katana Sword and a Gauss Rifle are slung on his back, and a .223 pistol hangs at his hip.
He produces a pair of curious pre-war binoculars and looks through them, though the lenses are dusty and cracked, he can just make out a tiny building in the distance.
Packing away the binoculars, he grabs his sawn-off and starts toward the building.
On the way a man in leather suddenly leaps from the bushes, brandishing a spear. Kane fires the shotgun and the man takes the impact fully in the chest, he is thrown back a good 4 metres before sliding to a halt on the dusty ground, with his blood forming a growing pool around him.
Kane doesn’t even stop to search the body, if this pathetic raider attacked him with a spear, he couldn’t have anything of value on him.

Through his binoculars, Kane observes some more raiders in the distance, they seem to be heading towards the house, which now appears to be a farm.
Kane loads the shotgun and picks up the pace, jogging towards the house and keeping his eye on the three or so raiders that intend to attack it.
Kane arrives at the house just before the raiders do, and waits around the corner of the building. As the first bandit appears round the corner, he sticks the shotgun in his gut and pulls the trigger, the poor raider is nearly cut in half as 90% of his insides fly out of his back.
As the body falls to the ground, Kane rounds the corner and fires the next shell, and the nearby raider drops his 10mm as his head is taken clean off his shoulders. One more to go. Kane drops the shotgun, avoids the raider’s swinging combat knife and punches the man square in the stomach. The blow knocks the wind out of him, and he drops to the ground.
Drawing his .223 pistol, Kane puts it to the gasping bandit’s head and neatly(?) executes him with one shot.
Picking up his shotgun and holstering it, Kane keeps his .223 in hand as he nudges the door of the house open and walks inside to be met with the barrel of a 12 gauge shotgun in his face.

"Get the hell out of my house you damn raider!" Yells the farmer.

Kane slowly puts away his pistol and raises his hands.

"It’s ok, I’m not a raider, I’ve just killed the three that were attacking your house."

The farmer looks at him suspiciously.

"Three? There were four."

"Yeah" Says Kane.
"I met him earlier"

The farmer carefully peers out the door and sees the dead raiders. He lowers the shotgun.

"It’s ok, honey, you can come out."

A woman and a small child slowly walk out from a closet.

"Thank you so much." Says the farmer.
"That’s the second time those raiders have attacked my farm. I would have fought them off, but I ran out of shells last week. You saved our lives."

He breaks his shotgun to reveal it empty.
Kane blinks in amazement.
"Here" he says.

Kane hands the farmer some shotgun shells

"Thank you."

"How can we ever repay you?" asked the woman.

Kane answers slowly.

"Well, if you have any spare food, and some water, I would appreciate it."

"Consider it done. And here. This is for the shells."

He hands Kane $50.

"Thanks." He replies.

"Oh, where are my manners, George Harrelson."

"I’m Kane."

"Good to meet you Kane, so where are you headed?"

"Well I was hoping you could help me on that, where is the nearest town?"

"That would be Phoenix. It’s a few miles North-West of here."

Soon, Mrs Harrelson returns with several leather bags of food and two canteens full of water.

"Thank you." Says Kane as he packs the supplies into his backpack.
"You can take whatever you want from the raiders. I’m leaving for Phoenix. Goodbye."

"Goodbye Kane. You’re welcome here on the farm whenever you want

Kane looks back as he walks out the door.

"Thanks. I’ll stop by sometime."

With that he loads his shotgun and walks off into the scorching desert sun towards Phoenix.

great, but...

I thought Kane was pure evil right through. Call me sick, but it was somewhat of a disappointment when he helped that farmer out, instead of blowing away his brains and... well maybe raping his wife (that may be too much)

[font size=1" color="#FF0000]LAST EDITED ON Sep-19-00 AT 09:25AM (GMT)[p]Yeah, I know...I'm kinda wavering a bit with Kane's character. Whether he's good or evil. I think he himself may be questioning himself at the moment. Maybe he'll have a change of heart and return to burn the farm:) ...
As for the rape... yeah I think that might be too much.
