About Killaps patch (worldmap RE's)

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
I had a question about Random encounters on the world map in Killaps patch.

I was wondering how this has changed, ie as to the scale ? I ask this because i still have an old PC from way back when on wich i play my older games but if you've redone the worldmap to be better on faster PC's, how will this have an inpact on slower PC's.

I mean, i don't mind getting one or two RE between Arroyo and Klamath but not 7 or 8.

How old is your PC? I would say anything less than 1Ghz would not really cut it for the change I made to the .exe (It is a pretty lame alteration but was really the only way due to the way the game was designed. As you move across the world map my alteration has your run through several for loops which wastes CPU cycles. Map movement was based on CPU speed and thus the faster the CPU meant the faster the movement) To remedy this situation just use the exe that comes with the official 1.02 patch.

Can't the encouter rate be changed via edition of some data files?

I have a 700 Mhz and had no problem with the Megamod.

It's a very old one. Certainly less then 1GHz. So, you're saying i should install your mod, then install the official 1.02 patch to clear that problem up (i'm using the UK version so i'm assuming you mean the UK patch)?

Well there are two "types" of this encounter rate problem. The first is there are too few encounters. The second is that faster computers FLY across the world map. Increasing encounter rates can be done by editing a text file that comes with the game. Editing the speed of movement on the worldmap requires editing the exe itself.

EDIT

Yes, install version A of my UK patch and then download the official 1.02 UK patch and copy over its exe
