I'm basing my opinion on the look of the new power armor from the offical FO:BOS wallpapers. Now, the developers are saying the game takes place between FO1 and 2 or during the time of FO2. In either case, new power armor would be non existant. First of all, during FO2, the BOS still used it old but good Power Armor. It's the enclave that used the Advanced Power Armor, and the BOS didn't have it at the time of FO2. This means they DIDN'T have ANY new Power Armor during the time span of FO:BOS. PLus, I think the new suits look stupid as hell. Save the new power armomr look for FO3.

New power armor?

New power armor? How is that possible? Do you think that the power armor types were designed after the war? All the hightech weaponry is just left overs from the prewar days. I really don't think that the wasteland world has the manufacturing capability to design a whole new combat suit.

RE: New power armor?

I was going to point that out, but I was afraid of getting "Wait until it comes out, you don't know what it is going to be." preached at me again.

RE: New power armor?

The Enclave didn't just find their advanced power armor, they created it. And also, if the BOS made developed this new power armor from their old model, then why weren't they using it during FO2?

I posted my message on the offical FO:BOS board at got this response:

"Can't give away too much about the story yet, but I can say that the Brotherhood that we're dealing with in FT is a splinter faction from the original group, similar but with their own goals, ideals, technology, etc.

'nuff said for now . . .

RE: My answer to that.....

i think they could put the new armor in but they would have to have some damm good reasons. mabybe if the use of the armor is just a mod. on the old type (like say stiping off protection to cut down on lb) but a whole new armor is a big no no.

Even if it is a mod, it's still an inconsistency with the power armours in FO2.

RE: My answer to that.....

Since this is a "splinter group" or whatever, perhaps they decided that the "old" power armour was to big and clunky. Maybe these "new" suits are bascially the old ones, just streamlined down to the bare minimums.

BOS power armor

In Fallout2, BOS of steel didn't use anything tougher than a metal vest, they were just a shadow of their former self.
I don't think Enclave designed the advanced power armor. Did they design the Bozar? And the FN FAL, maybe the tommy gun. Enclave could very well find it. They had vertibirds, they could fly to other parts of the country... FT does not take place in California by the way.

RE: My answer to that.....

i know im just trying to give them a plosible way out (odds are they will do something dumb anyway)

Oh of course!!

Of course! A splinter faction. Just makeup some excuse to make it fit in right? What better way than to make some fluke splinter faction.

I'm sure they were all sitting at a board meeting with the agenda "How do we coverup all these inconsistencies?" and someone came up with the bright idea "how about a splinter faction? We can make anything possible since it's in its own world."

*Sigh*

RE: BOS power armor

Actually, I'd say the Enclave did design the Adv Power Armor. In the Glow, the records indicate that only the T-5b(I think that's the designation) Power Armor had been completed. Since that was the main research center for Power Armor in the U.S., the Adv. Power Armor had to come later.

If the more Eastern sect of the BoS did develop new armor, nothing is to say they never went back West. That's the only rational explanation for it not appearing in Fallout 2. Coconuts don't migrate. ;)

Of course, this would also mean the Brotherhood has some sort of protected production facilities for the new power armor. I can't see them machining every new suit by hand or making the reactors for the suits by hand either.. ;)

RE: BOS power armor

But, what if the Glow computers hadn't been updated. They obviously had Power Armor early in the war. The chances of an advanced suit being developed during the war seem possible. Perhaps it was something special for the troops defending the Oil Rig.

::shrug::

Who knows? But, there was never anything concrete proving the Enclave developed the armor.

RE: BOS power armor

No, there's nothing proving it, but it just seems more reasonable that since it didn't show up until the Enclave started re-asserting themselves, there was no Adv. Power Armor. If they can make Vertibirds, I figure they can make Adv. Power Armor too. :)

RE: BOS power armor

No see, the vertibirds and plans were on the Oil Rig too. So when they eventually sailed there. They got all this new tech, and claimed they did it themselves.

I really doubt the Enclave made the Vertibirds without parts and plans. I could be wrong, but none of them seemed all that bright.

RE: BOS power armor

There has to be another Enclave base. Navarro was a refueling/repair area only. You know an oil rig only hold so many Vertibirds.

If they were pre-nuke, though, wouldn't the Brotherhood of Steel have had access to them? Or at least known more about them? It seems to me they'd have had at least one mechanic who had knowledge on the workings of them.

See, the FT Power Armor is from Norad. That's why it has a different look. It's even more advanced than the Enclave Power Armor. The BOS guys just didn't get back to CA in time for it to show up in FO3.

So it's not new PA, it's different PA. It's the PA of the non-grunts.
