Damn. Was hoping for something a little more inspired than "do quest y" and "do thing x z number of times."
I'm definitely shooting for "The Courier Who Broke the Bank" though.

You know, i like the idea of Achievements in some games. I hate the implementation of achievements in all games.

Reaching level 10 should not be an Achievement....

They should be something you need to strive for, not something mundane like that shit. They're called Achievements for a reason..

Its probably so its reaches 1000 g in total.
Also from what I'm reading, theres only 20 achievements for quests. I think thats just the story line, so I'm happy with longer story and no more achievements for every single side quest you do.

See, I think achievements should be shit that you would (maybe) do if they weren't achievements anyway. But I'm cool with the story achievements, because they certainly do help fill up the 1000g requirement and also because they give a sense of progress and reward outside of what the game says. If I went through and played for eight hours of the main quests, and didn't unlock any achievements, I would feel vaguely cheated.

It would be nice if they used some 'harder' achievements like Starcraft 2 did; Complete on normal, complete on hard, 'do x on hard' kinda thing. Though maybe without the first two, or the two of the melded into one.

@White Knight: Obsidian said they were adding a lot more quests to the game, partially by more content, and also by making chains of quests; I wouldn't be surprised if some of the quest achievements are for completing the 'final' quest in the chain..

20 quest lines? This is sounding better and better....

I agree with DirkGently about the harder achievements. It would be nice to have an achievement that I can spend ages on.

Having a fair share of both, i think works for the best. TF2 often fucks it up by putting achievements that ruin the fun for everyone like taunting when ubercharged, etc.

Fallout would benefit from some more achievements that forced you to do pacifist or psychopath or strange playthroughs. Maybe just spend X time roaming the wasteland in hardcore mode with no weapon skills above 50% or playing an entire game with LK1 or getting addicted to everything, etc.

That'd be kinda fun.

I'm sure the rating board here in Aus would love getting an achievement for a psychopath play through xD

Still, those are what i mean. Something specific you need to make moves to get. Not basic stuff like completing story quests or leveling.

And yet, you should, since, these being more open ended RPG's, you don't have to do the main story at all. You can fuck right off and do nothing but murder every thing that comes across your path. Or not murder anything at all. now that'd be an achievement. Not killing anything.

Too bad that I won't be playing the game on the Xbox. But I do always enjoy the idea of unlocking achievement in games. I hope that they will like it for the PC version as well.

Didn't Fallout 3 have achievements? I know it's available to work with Games for Windows Live, I've seen friends on my xbl friendslist playing it on PC.

But then again, I don't know shit about PC gaming really.

It's a shame that these ones are so generic. If only FNV's achievements were all secret and rewarded you for trying out new and random things. I dunno, like:

- The AA team - spend the majority of the game drunk with one or more party members

- The Chosen One - using hand to hand or melee weapons only, defeat 50 enemies carrying superior weapons

- You Got It, Fren - play the majority of the game as a tribal, using only primitive weapons (hand to hand, spears) and having a loud haircut

- Irresponsible Tourist - suffer drug withdrawal while at the gift shop in Dinky the Dinosaur

- You've Got A Problem - lose all your money at a casino and go berserk

- Ian NOOOO!! - Accidentally have one of your companions killed by another

- Good boy, Laddie! - Play fetch with an enemy dog with a stick of dynamite

- No Mutants Allowed - kill every super mutant you meet without ever giving them a chance to speak

- This is None of Your Affair, Move Along - experience a gruesome random encounter and do not intervene

- Showed 'Em Goooooood - While in combat, completely incinerate an enemy with a ridiculous kill and have your immediate yield accepted by the survivors

- Just Using Ya - Store over 400 pounds of inventory items on your companions, while giving them minimal stimpaks or ammo

- Enough!!! - Turn a character hostile be repeatedly saying the same thing to them over and over and over...

- The Rocketman - Finish a quest using only rocket launchers while wearing glasses and high on Jet

Fuck secret achievements. Fuck them in the ass. If they're not used to cover potential spoilers, I fucking hate them. How the fuck am i supposed to figure out what it is if you don't give us a fucking clue?

Personally I don't really care to much about achievements in game. For me they are just things to make the game more replayable and interesting.

But isn't figure out and experimenting on all the things you can do in the gam the entire point of secret achievements?

No, the point of secret achievements is too hide spoilers and aggravate people like me. Of course it's a moot point since they made so that there can be different text after you unlock them (but I suppose the Achievement Name might give it away/help spoiler, so they still use them). Fuck random ass secret achievements. I'm not going to fuck around trying to do this that and the other bullshit thing without knowing what the fuck I'm trying to do, I'm just going to go to Gamefaqs and look up the full list.

I agree about the secret shit, but sometimes it's cool to crack one out of the blue.Like for instance, when I was playing Read Dead R,I put a female character on some train tracks ! ....So if secret achievements are things that you might try anyway, the whole secret thing kinda works.

And yet, I wouldn't have done that if it wasn't pointed out to me. (as RDR will burn for it's for multiplayer achievements. I hate multiplayer achievements.

Actually that was in the single player....

Would be kind of cool to be able to fully play a tribal. Brew powders, have a customizeable spear, skin animals, have enhanced survival skills and special dialogue options. Of course, you'd have no way of telling which side of the gun the bullets come out from. That'd make for a nice mod. Too bad the melee combat in FO3 sucked and what Obsidian's adding doesn't sound so much fun either.
