Afterfall DevBlog

Yeah, I know.. (I was just pointing out the irony.. well it's ironic to me, so you can just say I'm silly if you want)

So does that mean there is an actual place in the Netherlands called Liberty City? *checks wikipedia* Hmm... Well it doesn't mention the Netherlands, but it does mention a small town named Liberty City in Miami, Florida.

Yeah...I wish they'd show something instead of just hyping their title to death. Vids or it didn't happen, right ? Because until now, we've only seen cool tech demos and they appear to be outdated by now. So yeah, show something worth it and then let the people praise your game instead. Note that I'm not any less excited for this game, I'm just cautious.

So, uh, even though some features are gone and the game is smaller in scope, it's exactly the same game, but it's also much better. Uh, what?
You are trying to be mean just for the sake of it? It's an obvious statement.

Not every feature a dev dream about would be good in practice. Maybe some combat features would make it overcomplicated or not dynamic and worse as a result, maybe some small locations are better when merged into bigger ones.

They said some funny things but this is not such one.

Lies! See? Proof with the last line. If your status says offline when you obviously had to be online just to post, then the rest has to be false as well.

My status is hidden so I always look offline

But you never know when I'm there

WATCHING.

country based on what I read in the US 50's history debate thingy a while back.

Fer Frith's sake, the only thing wrong with that debate is that the person I was talking to didn't understand what I meant by discourse, thinking it meant "the way people talk about it (now)".

I move around way too much to keep updating what city I'm in. Hence the joke

No Liberty City in the Netherlands.

Maybe. But that's not what they said.

Off topic since we're off topic in this thread, does one ever lose his warn (strike) level?

Not automatically. We can remove it after some time if the poster shows he learned his lesson, but that's not often the case.

Whether someone learns their lesson or not is entirely subjective. I'm guessing a year or so of good behavior should do the trick. Or not. It's like putting someone in rehab. You never know if they're going to come out clean or go right back to the vodka.

What he was poking fun of was "...the final product will be the same Afterfall which you were waiting for," and "...it will be much better," are contradictory. We may know what they were trying to say but he was merely pointing out that the statement was purely a non-substantial PR one (hype) and that they should at least be near to finishing the game before making such statements, especially as an indie developer. I don't follow many indie games so I wouldn't know but I certainly got some laughs out of it.

I don't really care about this stuff, I'm interested in seeing (or reading about) the game so that I can actually see what they are making.

No kidding. Afterfall has always been a promising project and it still is, but this isn't helping

And I think that's VD's basic points: lots of empty PR and no substance is something an AAA company might be able to pull off with a lot of PR-buck. But the strength of indies has always been being honest about promising ideas and having good interaction with your community. Afterfall sucks at both those things, and it's a real turn-off for the game.

Good thing I'm good at ignoring PR, whether it is well-done PR like Bethesda's or shitty PR like Afterfall's.

Has there been any in-game shots released for this project?

I haven't really seen it before and was wondering what kind of a game it's going to be. Isometric turn based?

I went to their site but there weren't any media to oogle at...

Ah, judging from the comments here I was starting to think they hadn't actually done any work on the game.

By the way, why are the zombies and mutant working out in the gym? Is the game just showing off the interactive environment?
