Afterfall has not been receiving much coverage lately, but have no fear! The post-apocalyptic alternate history role playing game is not going to go down easily, as it's developers, Intoxicate Interactive were recently hired by Nicolas Games, a Polish interactive software publisher, and reformed into a fully-fledged development studio, Nicolas Games Intoxicate.

What does that mean for us, gamers? Simply put, one of the biggest independent projects that has been in development for the past three years will quite propably arrive at it's destination.

And, according to Nicolas Games, it will feature
- ability to create and develop the player character, playing him using possibilities never before seen
- an engaging, nonlinear and twisting plot, where every choice has consequences
- hundreds quests to do and several organizations to join
- a dynamic turn-based combat system against people and vehicles
- a random mutation system and cybernetic implants and prosthetics
- about two hundred weapon models and over one thousand items, with the ability to craft and modify some of them
- excellent graphics and realistic physics provided by the modern engine
Spotted by the perceptive Globbi.

I've sent info by submit news a while ago, there was no news yet then. Here's an overview:

Nicolas Games, a Polish company that recently had its debut on Warsaw Stock Exchange, has opened a studio for team working on Afterfall project. The team is now called Nicolas Games Intoxicate and we can find it’s new logo on Afterfall temporary website http://www.afterfall.pl .

The team and company representatives seem very enthusiastic. From their sayings on some internet forums we can tell that Nicolas Games is going to put serious money in the development of the game. Some parts of the game are going to be different from what they were going to be earlier but the changes are mostly positive as the devs speak.

Nicolas Games is not a well-known company and their game development adventure just begins but we should stay optimistic. The determined team behind Afterfall is still there and now with a real studio and money. The company’s debut on stock exchange provided it with 2,85 million PLN (about 1,25 million USD).

Good news. As long as the project does not turn out to be a console only "gears of war"-copy I am happy.

It's PC only from what I know. Besides, not enough money to make it all grafixz showz.

Which part of post-apocalyptic alternate history role playing game you didn't understant?

Also, globbi, corrected.

Lol, i don't need my name there and I'm definitely NOT perceptive :P This has been on a big Polish website about games and is discussed on Polish AF foum.

Ravager69, how do you know about not enough money? This news is about Afterfall getting money.

tfp, there is no way it turns out to be a GOW clone, the devs would risk an attack by an agry mob with pitchforks and torches coming from Polish community ;]

It's going to be published for Windows and Linux.

What part of money runs the world don't you understand?
The guy with money usually calls the shots.

I've read about it and I think it might actually be interesting.

But games HAVE changed before.

Anyhow, this is good news (as long as that money does not come with too many conditions. But from what I've read before, the team seemed to be really picky as to what deal to accept since they didn't want to be controlled by someone but rather release their own game).

You don't seem to understand my point. Let me spell it out to you in simple words, slowly. I'll even use capitals in case you have a sight handicap in addition to what you already have.

AFTERFALL IS AN RPG.

IT ALWAYS WAS.

CHANGING AN RPG INTO A SHOOTER NEVER HAPPENED AND NEVER WILL.

to be perfectly honest, the first game ment to be called fallout 3 was an RPG (or was designed to be, since it was never finished).

Is that still the case (without bending the truth now) ?

You're seriously suggesting they're expected to scrap what they did so far and start anew on a Gears of War clone? How does that make sense?

Hehe, that's funny :D

Um, Fallout 3  I see your point, though - Afterfall has already been in development as an RPG.

Central Europe may save PC games.

@per
Of course not.

He overinterpreted what I said.

I said:

That to me looks pretty much like I will be happy in the event that this game DOES NOT TURN OUT TO BE A GOW-clone?

And since it rather much seems like that will be the case......

@Mikael Grizzly, go have a beer and cool off or something.

@Globbi: Linux too? nice initiative.

Yes. The original Fallout 3 was and still is an RPG.

That project, however, fell through. And then a year later and completely independent from that and by a completely different team Fallout 3 was developed from the start as much more of a shooter. The comparison makes no sense.

Also, where does this completely ridiculous theory that it will now suddenly change into a shooter come from anyway? It's like you go 'lol there's money now it must be a mainstream shooter'.

@sander. Ok then. it is not a completely accurate comparison. But still valid enough.

I blame it on the beer. just disregard from it if it bothers you since it is actually beside my point which can be read in my post following the quoted one.

edit: and there is no damn theory. stop reading whatever you want into my original post and read it for what it was. (as is explained in the post referenced above)

well I'll tell you something: Afterfall is an cRPG, making by fans of postapo for postapo fans ;)

and we'r making Afterfall for PCs (linux accepted) not consoles. We got full founding, and we'r ready to rock. So calm dawn, there is great game comming!
