The Poles of Game Corner report that Afterfall is still alive. According to Thomas Majki, President of Nicolas Games, the scale of the game became even greater, as it's not just a single game now, it's an entire universe created for several products. With its website taken over by cybersquatters.

I still have my doubts about this.

I think the guys who bought in on this wanted to change the core of the game, make it like another lame FPS with some RPG-elements or something.

And intoxicate would not have it, and thats why he left.

I hope im wrong but... something is not right here.

Mr. Thomas also revealed that, soon, we'll do a different project, related to AFTERFALL whose prime minister is due to take place earlier than the Prime Minister of the game.

I assume prime minister means... uh... uh...

I bet 20 Polish złotys it means "Main Quest"...

Oh yer?

A little bird told me that kolos/intoxicate was looking for a job recently.

actually (according to article) he said that there will be another project (game?), related to afterfall, that will be released before the main game. (premiera (première) was translated into prime minister here, incorrect of course).

Eh, since we don't got ANY infos since a long time, I am as pissed of as all the other and a sceptic now. Don't care anymore if this will work out shitty or not.

Man, it isn't that hard to give infos from time to time or are the devs some slaves in some secret drug laboratory?

I am still hopeful, it will be better than never getting it :P
What could this related game be that will be released sooner? I object to that on the grounds that all effort should be focused on getting the main afterfall game completed first

also
I do agree, something as simple as a screenshot a day would go a long ways, and not take any effort

This is one of the weirdest vaporware projects I've ever encountered. Not only is it taking forever, but I still don't have the slightest clue what it's supposed to be like. Duke Nukem Forever may have spent 12 years in development, but at least there was never any doubt it was going to be an old-school first-person shooter with Duke Nukem as the main character. As for Afterfall, I have no idea what to make of it. According to the devs, it's the most massive and ambitious RPG ever <strike>developed</strike> conceived. According to the press, it's a Fallout clone with a 3D engine. According to Wooz, it's a promotional game for the Xerox Corporation centered around dwarves, elephants and talking trees. Fuuuck.

Well they used to have a website full of background and sample stories, item/vehicle descriptions, long pages on gameplay mechanics and stuff, and if they went through with all of it- it was going to be about the best rpg ever. Maybe you can find that info using one of those websites that lets you look at others by accessing old archives or something, the only part of all that old stuff they have definitely or at least somewhat confirmed directly is that the game world will not be as large as originally planned, but then they kind of contradict that in this one

i dont know about calling it vaporware though
i havent seen anyone refer to FOOL that way and they are reacting about the same way, well a couple people talk about it but not very much on specifics

You haven't? Plenty of people consider FOOL vapourware. It seems reasonable to do so, considering it's a project from a company that for all intents and purposes should've died 5 years ago.

Indie games are usually tagged vapourware if they take too long to show significant process. Again, reasonable, considering most indie games don't make it, so we need proof to believe they're going anywhere.

Afterfall is even worse. It lacks any public PR direction, talks as if it is a major AAA company, tries to build hype in a half-arsed, amateuristic way...seriously huh?

The long time ago promised Afterfall: Preludium maybe? (anyone remember this?)

Anyway, with everyday it looks that Afterfall will finish in similar way like The:Fall Last Days of Gaia. What would be pretty bad... I hoped a little bit, that game makes it as a good cRPG game.

Well, at least we got infos about The Fall long before release.

/Edit: The News on Games Corner got some Updates already. But even with translator I can't understand most of it.

The Fall wasn't bad.

Basically, it goes from "Afterfall is cancelled" to "NG president said it's not, it's an entire UNIVERSE".

as far as i know devs can't say anything and PR... well you can see how it "works" there. so it is as it is, sadly.

I liked it at the beginning, but the Real-Time combat and the linearity killed the game for me. It would've been much better with good, tactical turn-based combat.

I hope Afterfall doesn't get mainstreamed, but this is what I fear is happening now.

Bwahahah, that's even better than what CDPR's Top Dog pulled off a few days ago...

Nothing changed, then.

Power-armoured mammoths, bears with Predator mouths and spellcasting trees, actually. But that was literally years ago :P

I'm curious, any reason why Afterfall continues to be news? I like wrote if off a couple years ago. Is it used as cannon fodder to chuckle at or shake our heads at? Is used to provide an example of "how not to make an indie post-apoc RPG" (not that we hadn't seen others before)?

Well for a while there were still some fans to go along with the naysayers but yeah, it's pretty much just naysayers now.

It's not like we frequently cover it, and yes, right now it's a combination of entertainment value and a Warning to Us All.
