Another taser death today. (more than 150 deaths total)

History tells us otherwise. If a people can't dispose of its government when it becomes obsolete or harmful, a people is already doomed.

People that get tasered aint trying to dispose of their government!

To my knowledge is usualy some drunk driver who thinks he can say to sheriff "go fuck yourself i aint paying nottin" and so on...

Its not a political question, its more officers trying to defend themselfs from smart-ass low life criminals that think they can intimidate the law...

if u want to contest some officer or u think he was unfair to you, you do it by proper means, like courts, not by raising your voice and look threatening.

Plus if u dont break the law, no officer is gona randomly tase you...

when is excessive force excessive?
Cuz that looks pretty fucking excessive to me.
I also like the part where he lied to the other officer "yeah the guy was jumping around and threatening me and I warned him like 5 times"
bullshit. I watched what he did Mr. Officer, you are a piece of shit.

So your point is that there can be deadbeat cops. Yeah, that's fairly obvious. It doesn't really follow that you should then disallow cops from carrying and using tasers because of the possibility of abuse. Cops place their lives on the line to deal with what is usually the dredge of society so the rest of us don't have to, not innocent people who are being victimized.

Besides, take away their tasers, and you're left with only two other real options for cops who feel threatened: physical restraint (which carries a higher risk for bodily injury than getting tasered, as well as putting the officer in much greater danger), and shooting (which carries a much higher risk of injury or death).

No actually that wasn't my point.
I just thought it was one of those "fucked up so you gotta see it" videos.

Although, if that cop still has his badge, I will be amazed.

btw there are more alternatives, we got mase, beanbags, rubber bullets, pepper pellets, flashlights, batons, guns, the physical training of cops, and I'm sure there is more.

Tasers probably shouldn't be banned, but they ought to make them the second to last resort.
Currently in America, they can essentially use it as they see fit, and not all cops are tased as part of their training, it depends on the academy (and I was told this by a cop friend of mine named Javi).

As I said before, the problem are not tasers, the problem are cops who think they can use tasers instead of doing their job.

Tasering an unarmed suspect merely because you're tired of debating with him/her/shemale is not the same as doing your job as a police officer.

Also, police officers always have the psychological advantage on their side (unless they are dealing with psychos), exactly because they are police officers.

Police officers know their tools and they know what tool is appropriate at any given moment. There's no excuse for obviously excessive violence (and tasers ARE violent, even if they have a high chance of not causing any permanent harm at all) if you are trained in what you are doing.

Otherwise we could just merge the police into the army and have soldiers patrol our streets and shoot anybody who acts suspiciously.

No no, what’s in cause here its that tazers shouldn’t be used because sometimes they injure/kill people.

Anything used out of control can cause the same problem you are stating. The officer could have maced the guy for the same reasons, theres a chance he could have gone blind for instance, or RUBBER BULLETED HIM (this would only cause like 10x more damage...), or whatever, the inappropriate use of authority (aka power abuse) won’t change just because you change the weapon. Bad cops will still be bad cops!!

Unfortunately there are bad cops, like there are good and bad people everywhere. But that is not fought by removing tazers to the good ones, as previously stated they have many advantages and i could find many youtube videos proving that too.

Edit: maybe they could replace tazers with the hose.
