Any fans of the Deus Ex series?

It Wandered In From the Wastes
I have Deus Ex The Conspiracy (ps2) and Deus Ex Invisible War(xbox).

I bought both at the same time at gamestop and was ashamed I ad ignored these two great games. The first one is my favorite but Invisible war is pretty close behind.

The stories in these two games are phenomenal IMO. Not as good as Fallout 1 and 2. But prettt darn close.

anyhow, asking this question on an RPG lover forum is pretty friggin' stupid if you ask me. the answer is bloody obvious.

There is no Deus Ex series, there is only Deus Ex.

This.

Incidentally, they seem to be making a game called Deus Ex 3. According to the wiki article, it won't have Warren Spector or Harvey Smith on it, so either we get something creatively interpreted and new, or we get another cash-out. While unified ammo seems out, they will be using regenerating health, which I've never really appreciated. It's kind of dumb to be sitting behind a tree and seeing your leg grow back.

Also, if the wiki article is correct in quoting this gibberish as a source for augmentations called Claymore and Multi-kill, I can easily see how this game is going into a direction I'd rather not have it go.

Brother None is correct there is only one Deus Ex the other one is like F3 is for fallout series. The saddest thing is that Warren was working on Invisible War and what we got was watered down shooter with some sneaking elements and looks like 3rd one will be following in footsteps. Anyway fallout_fan, if you want game similar to first Deus Ex, try System Shock 2. I suppose Bioshock is another choice, but I felt it didnt come as close these two.

Another Deus Ex fan here, and I agree with previous opinions; Deus Ex 2 was really poor compared to the diverse Deus Ex 1.

As for DE3, by the tone of the interviews with the project head it will be a sequel to Deus Ex 2 and not Deus Ex 1, again simplified so that the consoles can run it.

Oh I know I am putting it on this computer for sure. Thank you Steam.
Every time this is mentioned there are ten thousand people putting it back in their machines. As far as I know the PS2 version is close to the original but I'm not sure. I heard it was but never played it.
If you haven't played the original one on the PC it's a must.

Heh, it has never left my PC, its one of those 'essential installs' :P

 I like invisible war.

But I Deus ex 1 is better then 2.

Also sorry about the "Deus Ex series" reference. I didnt know 2 was so hated. On GamePro.com everyone loved Deus Ex 2. Oh well.

Well hated is a big word but Deus Ex 2 is not on the same caliber as Deus Ex 1.
While the story shows some promise it isn't as well executed as that one Deus Ex 1.

The scale of places are also significantly cut back, there are barely any alternative paths or options to go through them.

The removal of the skills system has eliminated the opportunity to craft characters that fit the player's gamestyle.

It's a good game on it's own but they stuck the Deus Ex name on it so people expected more of that rpg-lite multiple choice goodness.

Also making a sequel that kind of takes of where the first one ended in a game with multiple endings also pretty much destroys the fun of the different endings in the first one, canon-wise at least.

The biggest thing they messed up with Deus Ex 2 was the loss of the Joe Friday voice.

"Sorry. All I have is this candy bar." He said with great robotic-ness.

This is the 2nd time someone has told me I double posted. I didnt double post as far as I know. Also I dont know if this forum has a different definition of a double post then all the other forums I have been on?

Isnt double posting where you post the same thing twice? Or use the qoute button instead od editing?

Accursed are thee !
Now i have to reinstall.
Thank you very much.

Also, i loved Deus Ex, it should be mandatory lesson on SHOOTER-RPG design.
2nd one was much weaker overall. Less things you can do etc etc.

I have been playing deus ex 1 today on my ps2. Im really enjoying it more then I did before. I had stopped playing for a while but Deus Ex 2 got me back into playing Deus Ex 1. I did restart my game though. I wasnt happy with my first save.

Nah, double-posting is simply posting two or more consecutive posts under the same name without anyone in between. Since there's an edit function, there's no reason to post twice.

Also, on Deus Ex, if anyone ever wants a challenge, go for the realism setting and try not to kill anyone. Some story-line characters will have to be killed, no avoiding that I believe, but everybody else you can just zap, stun, hit over the head or put to sleep with darts. This playstyle will make you appreciate tear gas a hell of a lot more. I once cleared an entire room containing about 5 guards with a tear gas grenade and my trusty baton. Took some reloading though.

I agree. It's not as bad as it's made out to be, the original is just so much better.

I think I'll have to replay the original now.
