are there any guys coming from outside of US?

I remember Toronto, it's a nice enough city. One thing that has coloured my perception of Canada, the nicest beggars I've ever met. These guys were very polite, it's actually rather amazing. I'm used to the druggies and crazies you find in the US.

Just remember these great quotes...

[TV Announcer describes the Canadian National Tower in Toronto]
TV Announcer: It is the height of six American football fields, or five Canadian football fields. As if Canadian football really counts.

and

Gus: These Canadians suffer from a serious inferiority complex. That's why they built this: The Canadian National Tower! World's largest free-standing structure!

You should really watch "Canadian Bacon" its a move that was made by Michael Moore back in 1995.
it can also be related to current event.

Very recommended.

PS: I can set up an FTP server and let you guys DL it if you want

!

Heh, yeah, in the UK I gave out close to 40 pounds in change to the nicest bumbs you'll ever meet.

Outside of Birmingham. The bums there where like in Detroit, they where like the ticks they had swarming over them.

Uh. You mean you actually went on the street with 40 pounds on you?

Dude. Don't try this in Eastern Europe.

I was in the UK for a year. I went all over the country at diffirent points. And never carried more then thirty quid.

What? Nice tramps? (Bums for you Yanks)
I dunno 'bout elsewhere, but all the tramps in Leeds are smackheads (heroin addicts).

It's not just his decision, it's in the hands of the publiushers, who are unlikely to agree to free distribution.
IIRC, he tried a similar thing with F9/11, but it was quoshed by the publishers.

Heroin is, from what I understand, creates a relitively docile, yet very powerful high state. We have crack addicts and meth addicts, alot worse.

Hehe, still not very nice people tho'. The problem with smackheads is when they're coming down from a fix. They can be pretty nasty then.
I believe we also have crack and meth addicts, but we're not playing "Top Trumps" here.

Dude. In Chicago Crack addicts are the scarriest people you'll ever meet. They make all the pot head Vietnamvets and such look like prostitute-level bums.

Meth addicts are a relative rarity in the city, but my father won't even set foot in Iowa because of all the Methlabs.

Moderators have warned CCR before on this point, he continues to disregard it.

You found nice beggars in the UK? The only ones I really gave money to were the few with dogs in London, I rather like dogs, so I'll give their owners money. Especially the one fellow outside the hotel I stayed at, had all sorts of toys and a nice mat for his dog. Other than that, I found them pushy and obnoxious.

Have yet to find crazies like in San Francisco though, some people with no grasp on reality.

You think you know what an obnoxious beggar is? You haven't had the pleasure of seeing the ones in Romania....
First things first:
- these beggars are not free lancers, they all work for someone, their owner, kind of like a slave owner, maybe even worse. So when you give money to these guys you are really contributing to a nice Mercedes or BMW that their boss *really* needs. Most of these beggar owners are gypsies, more or less local kingpins. these same people also deal in whores, drugs, loan sharking etc. Why am I telling you this? Because I never give them anything. If you can find a Romanian film called "Filantropica" by Nae Caranfill on the net and manage to get some subtitles for it I highly recommend it. It says a lot about our (Romanian) society.
- right now a lot of our beggars are abroad, exported to France, Germany, England or Spain; these guys are the "pros", the most likely to get some compassion and money out of you.... The rest are here training.
- have you ever seen one of those guys with a trained monkey that performs and then the monkey holds a bowl or something to collect the money? Well over here we don't have monkeys, but why bother with them when small children are smarter and more likely to draw compassion and mercy? So here is the deal: you usually see these guys in the sub way; one adult, or older kid and a small child of 0-6 years. The older one either says a prayer, or explains to the audience that he has no money to feed the small child and the very large family at home. Meanwhile if the small child can walk or at least wobble along he patrols from one end of the train to the other with his older supervisor close by so that nobody will take his money and to make sure the kid makes his rounds. If the baby can't walk the older one will carry him in his/her arms and use the same routine. I find these beggars the worst and all I can think of when I see them is that the small kid never had a chance in life.... now that is sad.
Then there are the cripples and the old people that march up and down the train begging.
It was rather funny when I saw this guy with a piece of cardboard in his hand. On it was written how he had some handicap and can't work (he was about 25-30) but the text was written both in Romanian and in a very bad English. He was asking for 50.000 lei (50 mii; o mie=1000) wich is about 2$, but on the english version he was asking for 50 mil. lei wich is about 900$ . When I read the sign I could barely refrain from laughing. He gave me a mean look, but who cared that thing was too funny! :D
That is it for the day about our beggars... Had enough?

Do they use kids? That's the worst tactic I've encountered, mainly in Mexico, but in a few other third world countries as well.

The kids all work for a local kingpin, so they only receive the bare minimum of money they need for survival (they have to look pathetic as well, half-starved and in rags, so the kingpin makes it happen by denying them money). If they try to beg 'freelance' they will be beaten by thugs, so there is no choice for them but to work for the kingpin.

Stupid American tourists promote all this in Mexico though, because the kingpins make so much money at the game that they continue. Americans are gullible and only perpetrate the cycle of misery.

That's how the system works here too. Of course kids can be used for other things too.... I mean pedophiles do have to have a heaven too, don't they? Oh and you can sell them abroad and call it adoption.... Kids are so versatile....
