Well the first trailer for Marvel Studios latest flick is out and the buzz is positive for the most part. Are any of you planning on checking it out? Are there any Marvel fans around these parts?

I am pretty psyched myself and cannot wait to see the movie. I am a pretty big comic fan, so this is THE movie I have been waiting years to see. Robert Downey Jr. will definitely shine that much I can be sure of. What do you guys think?

Looks pretty good. Don't know about that villain though. Doesn't look menacing enough.

Loki is actually pretty impressive. He is using a relic known as the Cosmic Cube to boost his power to unreachable heights. He also is supposedly allied with an "unknown enemy" which has been rumored to be an alien species known as the Skrull.

From the footage that has been pieced together from rubberneckers in New York and Cincinnati, Loki will fight all of the Avengers one-on-one and then fight them all at once.I pulled up a snippet of Captain America and Loki fighting and it looked pretty awesome. The fight scene choreography must be up to par to pull off that many people, so I hope they can pull it off.

I believe they will.

I'm not really big on Marvel so I don't know who Loki is but let's hope there is more to the skinny dude in a leather coat. I was hoping there would be a league of bad guys as well. Also, I need to watch Thor asap.

Saw this trailer. The one on IMDB had sound sync problems when I found it. The YouTube version played just fine.

Loki was originally a Norse god like Thor. He sometimes helped the Norse gods, but was more often a troublemaker. He is also a character in the Marvel universe as the adoptive brother and archenemy of Thor.

Stark and Thor partying together? My money is on Thor to win the drinking contest! :drunk:

Loki is the God of Mischief and a Master of Magic, so he may not be physically intimidating, but he is very badass. In the comics he manipulated Hulk into fighting the Avengers and that was actually when the Avengers were founded.

Stark and Thor need to get their drink on for sure!
"Asgardian Mead is the finest in all the Realms!"....I totally hear Thor saying that.

Cosmic Cube?

Unknown ally?

This could only mean.....

THANOS!!!

AND HIS AWESOME PIMP SLAP!!

It has been rumored, but I think Thanos will be further down the line. Infinity Gauntlet possibly........

I prefer DC, but Marvel does have a few good things under their belt. I'll probably just check this out to see how it goes. I'm a bigger fan of the cast of the New Avengers, although I've found Bendis' writing in the both Avengers titles to be more mediocre as of lately.

I hate this whole super hero fashion

Take Captain America, famous for fighting Commies during the cold war. His tagline used to be "Commies, spies, traitors and foreign agents beware! Captain America with all free and loyal men behind him is looking for you!"

Now with their new storyline, he was frozen during WWII, missing 90% of his career (not to mention his blood didn't freeze and expand somehow).

I will probably get dragged to this under duress but I will probably not enjoy it.

Yeah Captain America was famous for fighting Nazis long before the Cold War happened ,and that wasn't Steve Rogers in the Cap suit fighting the Commies, it was another guy in the suit. Your also wrong about 90% of his career being missing. As far as the freezing part; it's just a comic and people don't normally come back to life either, but that is commonplace in comics nowadays.

As far as this being a NEW storyline that is incorrect. This shit has been canon for over thirty years at least. I do understand where you are coming from because comic plots involve lots of retcons, tweaks, and fuckups, but that's the name of the game when you have hundreds of different artists and writers with creative control.

I liked the movies so far, but i've to say i dislike the Avengers.
Everytime somebody puts 'high power' heroes together with 'low power' heroes i'm critical.
It can work, but most often i think it's fucking stupid.

That said, i'm annoyed by Marvels need to have at least one afro-american in it. I mean i don't have any problem with afro-american superheroes or anything like that, but i'm fucking annoyed when they alter the background of a character just so they can say "Look we're political correct, we also have an important afro-american character in the movie!".
And no, i don't think there's another reason behind the change of Nick Fury.

Nice trailer though.

Actually the ultimate universe Nick Fury is black, and is based on Samuel L. Jackson. The movies are based on the ultimate universe, so it makes sense to have the ultimate nick fury. The ultimate universe has been going for 10 years, so its not like they said "Hey lets have a black Nick Fury" when writing the movies script.

Where was my Hawkeye film?

He got a small nod during Thor, that is all Hawkeye is going to get, he is not popular enough of a mainstream character to warrant it.

I have high hopes for The Avengers movie, not only because I am a huge Marvel geek, but also because I have a massive Joss Whedon fanboy.

Now if only they could breath some life into The Punisher franchise again I might be content with life.

So they're supposed to be based on the Ultimate versions? I mean okay, after i saw what they made out of Deadpool in Wolverine Origins it could be based on Mortal Kombat, but as far as i can tell Iron Man is definetly not the Iron Man from the Ultimate Universe and so i wouldn't have thought so.

But okay that would change it a bit - but than again i guess the reasoning for an afro american Nick Fury in the Ultimate 'series' was the same as the one i mentioned...

Hmm but maybe i'm just 'angry' because it seems as if Joe Carnahan won't do a Taskmaster movie/series, which i really would have loved to see ;)
