Battlefield 4

BonusWaffle

Still Mildly Glowing

Looks like one of my other favorite game series has decided to dethrone call of duty.. by becoming call of duty. Why does every game have to repeatedly beat your head in with pointless action to be considered good? I remember when tactics, positioning, creative thinking, and most importantly the ability to coordinate with your team had effects beyond waiting one second to respawn and some ridiculous new weapon.

Anyway what do you think of battlefield 4?

I think it's shit. I also think that most games that have a number that's bigger than 2 beside them are shit, especially if it's a "blockbuster" FPS . I mean how many times can one replay the same "Die Hard" scenario with the same gameplay mechanics (regenerating health - bane of all games).

jesus christ, rihanna? really?

well, i'm only getting it because my buddies all wanna play it together on PC. i didn't enjoy BF2 when it came out a while ago, but everything is fun with friends.

tried to buy BF3 premium edition, and ended up purchasing the wrong pack. still haven't gotten approved for a refund, and the sale's over.

gotta love that origin.

It's a trailer for the singleplayer campaign.

In a game that is supposed to be played in multiplayer.

Multiplayer.

So who the hell cares for the campaign? ;)

If they manage to make the MP as fun as BF3 is to me, then I have no doubts I'll buy the game.

@comscar - who is this mean looking woman in your avatar? Looks like she is directly staring in our souls :o

Lots of people care about single player campaign, but if you I don't want to be involved with it don't play it? So even wants to touch bf4 after the cluster ruck that was bf3

Thats true, I should wait to see what the multiplayer is actually like before i bash it. Its possible they could do everything right this time and fix all the "console accessible" changes they made with battlefield 3 and the bad company games, but this trailer doesnt really get my hopes up.

Here's the YouTube comment I left on the video:

Oh wait, it was deleted by the channel owner. Funny how that works.

What you're seeing here is the product of 500 developers working 80-hour work week death marches for months at a time, and hundreds of millions of dollars being sunk into advertising and art assets, so you can have the exact same fucking game as you've been playing the last ten goddamn years, but with slightly prettier graphics.

Oi! What're you hintin' at?
Did'nt you know, that they're NOT a Battlefield factory?

There's a shitload of things to nitpick about in that video; Like why the flying fuck he is looking at his hands when he is entering an unsecured room in a hostile area?

And the massive stupidity of the helicopter pickup, attack helicopter and souch.

I did like that they're bringing in suppression from games like, Brothers in Arms. It could bring a little bit of fresh air, theoretically - but I doubt it'll be anything more than a pointless gimmic. You're still a one-man army.

17 min gameplay video from Call of Battlefield 4

Yeah, that video is no different from the last batch of these shit games - generic gameplay (check), Die hard scenario (check), linear paths (check), aircrosshairs (check). More checks awaiting no doubt, but i'm not sure i want to watch that much.

Not even talking about the gameplay, these games have no building up at all, it's all instant full action all the time. I wonder how the developers plan looks like - um, helicopter crash - shootout - car chase - bs dialog (short) - massive shootout with crumbling bulding - generic drama moment - shootout. How does this not numb people to death? You watch a movie, then get back home to play a movie of the same kind .

You do know you are talking about single player in Battlefield right? Campaign is nothing more then the green leafy bits they put next to your fine steak that serve no purpose.

You mean parsley?

Because you're supposed to chew it to help clean your teeth and freshen your breath.

Which is what single-player campaigns are basically when it comes to these shooters.

Well, that and introducing game mechanics.

It's complimacated.

Very much not serious. :)

Since Battlefield 1942;
11 Years, 25 Battlefield games, expansions and variations out of 31 games and expansions.

They were quite adamant in defending themselves from the accusations with being a "Battlefield factory" a while ago.

Still, if they already spend resources on the singleplayer, could have been at least a bit different.

1: Wooosh.

2: tic-tac.

It's simple....you don't buy a steak dinner for leafy crap when you want steak and a baked potato. just like you don't buy a battlefield for single player.

Better if they didn't spend crap on single player but whatevers. Some Wig at dice probably wants to flex his writing muscle by inserting some contrived story in the game that only shares the settings of multi-player.....then so be it. still ain't gonna play it, and it's existence means nothing sense it has no factor in if I would purchase it or not.

You need to keep in mind that this is typical EA continuing with their typical shit. No need to focus on single player when we all know that EA seems more interested in pleasuring you with everyone's favorite function... multiplayer! Surprise surprise! Did I miss anything? No. It's EA following their rivals footsteps. Honestly, I somehow think that EA may have it bad from people now, but they may still yet have the opportunity to redeem themselves from their horrific accounts of corporate fuckery. I wont go through the list of their signature atrocious heresies, but you get the point.

... Ah, I remember when EA games were good. No need to worry if a game had online functions, no day-one-DLC, no shabby storylines, no bullshit. Just smooth sailing...

That's why i wasn't even talking about the mechanics of gameplay. Now then, i haven't seen much of it, but from what i've seen i don't see anything different. Enlighten me, how exactly is the multyplayer worth it? People played CS for a decade without needing a new game, so how is this improved upon that formula. Why should anyone who played the previous battlefields and call of duties buy this for multyplayer?
