Via Dwell On It.
Bethesda/Zenimax (you know those folks, The Elder Scrolls, Fallout 3, that sort of thing) registered some new trademarks just recently.

On 5 February 2009, Bethesda Softworks LLC applied for the Fallout trademark for "Entertainment services in the nature of an on-going television program" (s/n 77663853) and for "motion picture films about a post-nuclear apocalyptic world" (s/n 77663852). Obviously they already own all the other US trademarks to do with this game property at present.
This was, as Ausir and Biosafreak will no doubt remind us, already known, but this is the first time I've seen it confirmed.

Spotted on Joystiq.

Uwe Boll + Bethesda = worst overrated crap ever.

Lets just hope they keep ze german away from ze movies.
Nothing would be worse than that combination. Nothing.

Also, am i the only one who feels that bethesda is milking the fallout IP dry ?

I'm not really surprised by this, and it's probably just the beginning of "let's milk the Fallout trademark" events to come.

Yes, I've sent you this document ages ago. It's still somewhere on my old blog, but I can't seem to find it.

I feel cautiously optimistic about this whole deal.

How so?

In general anything game to something related has been the dogs, be it movies, cartoons, comics or books.

I'm pretty sure that Uwe Boll will never be overrated.

Didn't I read somewhere that Jerry Bruckheimer is on Bethesda's board of directors, or something like that? Produced by Bruckheimer, directed by Boll! :D

"They" have defaced, defenestrated and defecated on the works of Shakespeare, Stephen King and o so long an etc.
"They" will soon be defacing, defenestrating and defecating on the Foundation Trilogy by Asimov and God knows what more awaits for us in the brave new future... So why not Fallout? Let 'em have it I say. Mayhap we'll get lucky and be blessed with a decent movie.

you think? How many "decent" movie adaptions from games have seen the light in the recent time?

We are talking about Bethesda here. Zenimax. The land where money talks, and everything kidz see as "cool" and "awesome" has top priority.

There is really no hope not even for a descent flick.

No I don't think it will be decent I'm just saying it could happen. As in "tomorrow war(s) will be over". I don't think it will happen but since tomorrow isn't here yet, I can't say "hey, it sucked how tomorrow war wasn't over" and perhaps if we are lucky wars will indeed be over tomorrow. Likewise we can't say "Jeez! That Fallout movie sucked" because it isn't even being produced yet.

In any case, I'm not sure what I'm talking about. Oh, yeah: stay away from my booze!

Wow, this is taking whoring to a new level.

It could've been worse. There could have been a new Tomb Raider Movie in the making.

I was going to post: "How can you be so sure it isn't? :P", but then i used that mushy, porn-filled, thingamajigy inside my craneum and googled it, damn!! :irked: ...you were just being sarcastic...

Let's imagine we have a saying in the matter, who would we have as writers, directors and the Vault Dweller? (seriously)

Am I the only one who remembered: "Know what I'm thinking? I'm thinking about a feature film based on your X-ploits. We'd call it 'Pullout: Post-Nuclear Boogalo.' Are we together
on this? Eh?
"

Fallout predicted its own future!!

There's no solid reason to suspect they're going to actively pursue a Fallout movie/series, they could just be covering their bases.

And Uwe Boll? A little pessimistic there, Bethesda aren't *that* stupid. :P
