Blackest Friday

I'm old and have money, so one of the best gifts I give to myself all year is doing nothing on Black Friday. I'll wake up late, ponder the dishes, and eat a turkey sandwich and slice of pumpkin pie for breakfast. Maybe force the kids to see a movie that afternoon.

My daughter mumbled something about going Black Friday shopping with some of her coworkers at ludicrous-thirty AM. I told her to dress warm and not set off the alarm when leaving the house.

I do have a deep and abiding affection for Thanksgiving. I make one hell of a bacon-wrapped turkey.

Mmm bacon. I line the bottom of the corn bread pan with it for a simple twist.

I am assuming the 5 gallon bucket is for the brine? Looks tasty!!! Enjoy your thanksgiving.

Caveat Emptor---

I heard a rumor that certain manufacturers are in cahoots with certain retailers, making limited runs of electronics specifically for Black Friday sales. These electronics, being ridiculously cheap, are cheaply made and don't always carry the same warranty as the "real deal" at full price. When something seems too good to be true, it often is. Make sure you're getting the real deal. And don't overlook the secondhand market. Pawn shops are chock-a-block with TVs less than a year old, often for less than half of retail.
