Burst firing pistols

Heya crew.. I got a problem that I hope someone could help me out with.. I'm trying to modify the Mauser pistol, turning it into a Mauser "Shnellfeuer", which is basically the same weapon, but it was capable of automatic fire and was sort of one of the first smgs.

The idea was to add a second fire mode, a burst fire mode, of course making it fire all the 10 rounds in the mag in one go.. because the Shnellfeuer had a crazy firerate of about 1400 rpm. The problem is that in-game, the weapon won't fire, and I can't for the life of me figure out why.

Please, if anyone has any ideas why, let me know. Thanks :D
 
Yes, of course, Schnellfeuer... yes, I have checked the "use this mode" box... I've doubled checked everything twice over.

You know the first raider you will encounter on the Brahmin Woods level? He has a mauser. After doing the changes, I can walk up to him, walk around him, punch him in the face, shoot him, plant a mine by his feet, anything, and he won't try to shoot me.
After killing him in any of the above ways and taking the gun from him, it _looks_ alright. It has a 4 AP single fire mode and a 5 ap burst fire mode. The problem is that if I try to use either.. nothing happens. Absolutely nothing.

I'm... pretty muched stumped heh.
 
Did you just save over the original pistol, or did you open up the level editor and replace the raider's pistol? You say the raider won't try and shoot you, does he switch to a melee attack?

Presumably you didn't change the single fire mode, so it's probably something under 'weapon' which would affect both modes. Double check you didn't accidently change the weapon type to none.

That would stop the weapon from working while using the Single and Burst animations.
 
Done.. and done. It looks fine.
And no, I didn't make a new pistol, I just modified the existing one.

I haven't even touched the "weapon" tab, I've only modified "Mode[1]" and the text string for the weapon describtion.

I've figured it out. It's kind of ridicules. apperantly, putting animation type "burst" into a mode for a pistol causes the entire thing to stop working. I assume there is no burst animation made for pistols.. which also explains why the "triple" fire mode for pistols use the single fire animation.. which always did kind of boggled me, to be honest. It makes much more sense now.. even if I am kind of disappointed.
I tested the weapon using the single fire animation, and it works great.. but looks lame, so I probably won't implement the Schnellfeuer anyway.

Further... what the devil are the "two", "three", "four" and "spray" animations meant for?

That's what I meant, when you made your modifications did you just replace the file, sometimes you'll need to replace the entity in the map as well. But nevermind.

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention that, that's why I asked if you'd changed the weapon type, I assumed you'd changed the pistol into an smg. Why not make or get a new sprite made with the stock and extended magazine?

I forget about spray not sure if it is implemented, but the two, three etc are for unarmed attacks like the robot attacks which are really punches and kicks.
