cant find/load fallout 2 text fonts, really need help :(

First time out of the vault
when I try to play fallout 2 the error "couldn't find/load text fonts comes up" i've seen other solutions to it but to be honest...i am not that good when it comes to editing files or whatever it is you have to do...will somebody please help me? I would appreciate it if you did not make it complicated tho, thankyou :D
 
You don't know how to use your computer? Can you get someone to help you? We can't go there and do it for you, you know.
 
Course I know how to use my computer...im just not used to doing all this editing in the files, im only 14 and I have more important things to do :/ And nobody I know knows anything about this as they do not have the game and have not experienced the problem...is there no way you can help me?
 
frankly, with an attitude like that, I don't think fallout is the right game for you
 
Attitude? What I meant was I don't have time to learn how to edit files ect...I love Fallout and have played them all many times...my fallout 2 used to work on my computer but I now a new laptop and it does not work on it...fallout is my type of game, to be honest its probably my favorite as I love role-play and post apocalyptic games :P
 
I know their not? I was just wondering if somebody had the decency to help me out here as I thought that was one of the reasons there's a "game help" forum, but if not then looks like I will just not have to play Fallout 2, sad really I think its my favorite one
 
telling us to run you through File Editing 101 because you can't be bothered to do five minutes of research because you have "better things to do" can hardly be considered asking for help
 
Oh my, I just wondered if you could give a basic walk through on it...and yes I can be bothered...what I mean is I have school...I have homework...I have all sorts of crap to do...I'm just saying that that's why i'm no genius on this topic because I don't have the time to learn it all like you do...
 
Then I guess you don't have five minutes to spare to play Fallout 2, anyway?
 
Why are you making this awkward? Right let me get this through your skull...I AM NO VERY GOOD WHEN IT COMES TO EDITING FILES ON A PC AND STUFF LIKE THAT...as its the Summer Holidays I have plenty of time to play it...I just don't understand how to edit files ect and whenever I try to learn how it always gets to a complicated bit that I do not understand...sorry for not being as good as you "obviously" are -_-
 
Whoa no need for the language...and I'm hardly ignorant, do you even know the correct definition for the word?

Then you also have plenty of time to learn basic skills like using Explorer and Notepad (or nearest equivalents) instead of expecting others to bend over backwards for your convenience. Show some effort or go look elsewhere for people to indulge you.
 
I dont want you to do it for me? you make it sound like im asking you to do it for me? all i wanted was a few tips on editing the files? im sorry if i gave the wrong impression?

You haven't told us anything about what your actual stumbling block is. You said you've seen the solutions. There's one solution right here in the troubleshooting sticky that the forum rules instruct you to read. Well, what have you tried? Why didn't it work?
 
im getting confused...right im trying to edit the critter file so the text fonts load and currently im searching for the correct bit to edit on notepad but cannot find it even the "find" option does not work...i just really want to plat fallout 2 but im not very good at things to do with files and all that...:/ what im asking is do you know how to solve this problem...do you know how to find/load the text fonts?
