I love caricatures. I'm not into drawing them though, I attempted a few in my early 20s, closest friends including myself. With myself it's easy, cus there's nobody to offend. With friends, it's much more of a balance, cus they wanted it, but I knew they didn't want what it was going to end up as. One fellow artsy friend, on the other hand, called me out for not being harsh enough, and I drew several caricatures of him, untill I was able to draw him "from memory", comic book style, which was quite fun.
I like caricatures that are on the more extreme side, since softer caricatures come off as... flattering. That's why I've never liked street-caricaturers, who draw tourists. They have to balance between exaggerating features - and not insulting paying customers who often have no clue or are in complete denial about how they appear (especially to a stranger)
More importantly though, with the exaggerated ones, the face becomes more and more deformed, and more and more dependent on the particular identifying features
Anyway, I'm gonna spam some good caricatures (but leave out the names of the target). If you got a fave or came across a good one recently, slap it here!

An example of not-that-exaggerated, but achieving a caricature with quick, brief lines. I find this approach impressive as well, since it's very rough, but still brings out recognizability.

Caricature portraits of politicians are usually a minority against "political cartoons" that utilize caricatures by default.

Hmmm, I'm finding terrorists and other troublemakers tend to elude caricatures (except for mr. Bin Laden, who has been covered extensively)
From wikipedia, can be seen a caricature from ancient Rome, the city of Pompeii specifically:

The subject matter is not known, but his striking features can be detected even by a simple line-drawing. There's an immediate sensation of it being an older man, with the head jutting forwards, his chin poking further out. Doubtless, at the time of this drawing, anyone who saw it would know precisely who the subject was, probably for even decades to follow.
