CDs not being read...

Duckman

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
I am trying to install LotR:BFME 1, B&W 2 and Command and Conquer Generals that I got in a special pack this morning.

When I put the first CD of 4 CDs in total, it reads the CD fine and proceeds to install. When it asks for the 2nd CD, it cannot read the CD, as if there is some copyright protection. I have no idea what caused the problem, and every other game previously installed works when I put in the game CD.

Also, with Black and White 2, it won't even read the CDs at all. I have no idea what the problem is seeing that other games install and run perfectly, just these 3 don't :?

Any ideas?

BTW, its an external DVD-R/RW drive, as the original CD drive broke a while ago.

Well I took the games back, got a new set of CDs and still, none work.

Mind you all of my other games install and play properly...

Some more information would be useful.
What pack did you exactly buy? Because I can see this being a problem with certain copy-protection software.

Well, it was the EA Strategy Collection with Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth, Black & White 2 (plus expansion) and C&C (plus expansion).

it's a welknown fact of hardware lore that some copy protections simply cant digest usb drives...

another possibility is that the disks were badly burnt. (it happens)

Bah, it doesn't matter. I ended up returning them and exchanging it for Rome Total War and the Expansion...

Now this is a great game!
