I'm getting New Vegas for Christmas, but I have one question.
Do corpses despawn? In Fallout 3, sometimes they didn't.

They last for a few days, maybe a week but disappear soon afterwards. Otherwise consoles would have to use a lot of memory.
Corpses outdoors will likely respawn every few days. Indoors, within cells, they don't. Indoor bodies will lie there forever.

I think that named NPCs stay forever, whilst unnamed ones do despawn after a while.
Outdoor corpses stay there unless/until that encounter respawns. Otherwise, they never go away.

3 days outdoor. The only exception I've found is Courier corpse outside of Prim Mojave express house. Jeannie body in Novac? Gone.
Nipton hall is not despawn.
EDIT: possibly Brotherhood paladin corpses in Black Mountain, near Nellis, are not despawn, as they are essential to a few quests.
