Could you spell-check this?

I don't want to put it online without being sure it has no or very little grammatic and spelling errors.

Quick Glossary:

IBFEN - Islamic Brotherhood of Far East Nations. Formed in 1985, this confederation of Far East countries is united in its hate for Western nations and official religion of Islam. By 2003, 85% of all oil production is controlled by IBFEN.

2012: IBFEN cancels all oil and oil products export contracts to UN countries. Protests resulted in IBFEN's exclusion from the United Nations.

2013: Catastrophic energy crisis leads to growing economical depression all around the world.

2015: Canadian territories become States of the US, as stated in a treaty signed between Canadian and US officials.

2019: Republic of China annexes Southern and South-Eastern Siberia, competing with US over controlling the biggest territory.

2021: Debates between US and Republic of China over the continued annexation of Siberia resulted in a suspension of further annexation because of the fear of military conflict and possibly war.

2024: Military forces of US and NATO military forces invade Iran, supported by world media as an act of justice to re-establish pro-Western government of Iran that was sent into exile after Revolution of 1988. Protests from IBFEN quickly turned into military support of Iran's IBFEN government.

2028: Iran is now 95% under control of US forces. While IBFEN forces slowly retreat from Iran, IBFEN officials issue a warning to US and UN that unless their military forces immediatelly withdraw from Iran, IBFEN will open a campaign of terrorist acts with weapons of mass destruction against the civilian population of their enemies. US quickly responds with counter-warning that biological, chemical and tactical nuclear weapons will be used against IBFEN countries if there will be as much as one incident of terrorist act.

2029: February 12, 05:13AM. US media bursts with an announcement of nuclear attack against US. People are ordered to follow instructions of Civil Defense program, leaving their homes and taking shelter in underground vaults and fallout shelters.

Scientific and small military staff of NWSRC take shelter in the main test facility.

Dunno what it's supposed to be, but sounds pretty damned cool. As for grammatical or spelling errors, there are no major ones that I can see.

It's the pre-game plot from Fallout! Duh!

God damn US, that's just what they would do---bomb innocent children and specifically target bomb shelters just to gain fucking public approval.

But the war in Terminator didn't start over an oil crisis. It started because an intelligent defence network launched nuclear missles at Russia, because the designers of the network tried to pull the plug of it.
My guess is it's fallout-related.

Actually,

Oh, and it's not IBFEN, but IBMEN-Islamic Brotherhood of Middle East Nations.

You really have to wonder if any sort of war could/would start over oil problems. If anything the United States has enough oil reserves in the continental USA alone to compete with Saudi Arabia or any other Middle Eastern oil nation. Adding in the reserves in Alaska, the USA probably has more oil than the Middle East combined.

Also, by that time I'd guess that scientists would have found a viable method to extract and use the methane reserves found under the ocean all over the world. There is more fuel and energy to be had from methane under the ocean than all other fossil fuels in the world, in history, combined. With the addition of electrical-gas hybrid cars that are more powerful than any gas car but get fifty miles to the gallon for a small car and thirty miles to the gallon for SUV class vehicles, you're looking at less and less usage of oil-products.

Scientists have also found plants that excrete crude oil-like products that could be used in place of crude oil (though how much you get from one plant is to be seen). I'd expect that in the future the dependance on crude oil from the Middle East will start to fade and their power will too.

Yes, but does all this explain why gas prices go up? No. At least not to me.

And even if you're right, I always have an answer:"You don't know the details" (t.i., maybe US' oil reserve was blown up or eaten by alien virus). :-)

WHY?

why does it always have to be that Canada becomes part of the US and not the other way around?

The way i see it the US could have a breakdown of it's internal frontiers with California falling to streets gangs and then New-York being blown away my some terrorists with an A-bomb ( that you can make in Gecko with Uranium ore) Ok that last one was a joke, please don't flame me on this.
The central goverment could have been attacked by cyber-terrorism and fallen to Cuba or even worse Guatemala or any contry with some big drug lord.
Te army would have been killed by a virus distributed by vaccination. So the only resort left for protection was to join Canada. First Vemont then Maine and so on.

But in reallity it would too hard for the americano-Canadians to grasp the concept of having thanksgiving in October not in November and then the oil war could start.

OPEC, plus the fact that the USA doesn't want to release its reserves (well, enough to sell it).

You just go on believing that ok? :)

RE: WHY?

>why does it always have to

Are you kidding? A country that is 40% tundra, 20% ice, has insignificant natural resource, a population only 10% of the United States with 95% of them living on the *border* to the United States, has a picture of a queen who isn't even the ruler of the country on their coins, and that almost split into two countries recently annex the USA? Puh-leeze! I have to wonder why the USA would want to annex Canada at all! Besides the fact that it would connect Alaska to the continental USA, Canada is not really a country worth seizing outside of the game Risk.

>The way i see it the
>US could have a breakdown
>of it's internal frontiers with

Street gangs? Yeah right. The worst we've ever seen was the Rodney King riots, and those were overcome without military intervention (though I think rioters like that should be gunned down).

>and then New-York being blown
>away my some terrorists with
>an A-bomb ( that you

What? Killing a bunch of civilians in a major city will bring a country to its knees? Get real. Maybe Godzilla....

>The central goverment could have been

Simple solution: Legalize drugs. Druglord power would equal zero.

Why would anyone seek refuge in Canada? Are the Royal Canadian Mounted Police going to save us? I think we have more military personel than there are *people* in Canada. Hi ho silver!

That would be greatest of our worries.

Then OPEC is controlled by agents of IBMEN! And opening strategic reserves for the US is a matter of "national honor" of some sort. :-) And oil import companies use their money to press politicians to begin invasion (but that doesn't explain how the crisis could go on for 2 years before anybody did something. Hmm...).

As for Canada - uh... I guess with the fleet US has land access to Alaska and Siberia is not really necessary. But I will leave it to balance US with IBMEN by giving US a touch of political adventurism.

RE: WHY?

However the treath of cyberterrorism is real!
And with no coordination some trigger happy GI is gonna start shooting and a war may start that way.

Did you also notice that nothing happened to washington? It`s because they would do you a favor by eliminating all the politicians. :D
In fact they would do us all a favor by eliminating them all.

BTW do you have a president yet? Bush, Gore or Kang (from the Simpsons)

Damnit.

Xotor, I honestly think you're a smart guy. But your opinion of Canada forced me to post. Why do you Yanks insist on thinking that Canada is a desolate wasteland of ice and snow? Our weather is as normal as weather can be, all the way up to maybe the NW Territories. No significant resource? Unlike you (no offense intended), I can't pull out exact numbers out of my pants, but I know that we produce a hell of a lot of wheat and wood, fish too. We're also one of the countries with the most fresh water, and a whole bunch of other things I can't think of at the moment.

And are you saying the US is perfect or something? Yeah, feel proud that your country has millions of men in the military. What are you trying to prove, that if something doesn't go your way, you'll just beat the shit out of it until it works? Bullying around other countries with brute force and saying "Our army is huge" doesn't gain much respect from other countries. Yeah, well, my creative juices just stopped flowing, so I'll stop there. Sorry for the rant, and I'm not trying to offend you Xotor, just... trying to prove a point.

RE: Damnit.

Dyar, if you respect Xotor's opinion, you shouldn't show disrespect for his home country. Xotor, I think what you said about Canada was kinda rash - nobody wants to hear that his country is "worthless".

So please stop this. And to think of it - all began because I said Canada will be annexed by US in my story! Sheesh.

You forgot Kodos! I won't mention a third party canidate. Why? Do you really want to throw your vote away?

Normal weather or not, you're looking at a population density in NW equivilent to that of the Lybia, Africa. There is practically nobody up in the NW territories. The USA could expand 100 miles north and 80% of Canada's population would be consumed.

I guess I was speaking more of industrial power. Canada does have quite a lot of resources in the way of lumber, mines and agriculture (near the Great Lakes). As an industrial power however, it is not especially strong, maybe relative to the population, but not when compared to the size of the country.

>We're also one of

Water... I'm sure you'll be exporting that...

I was not emphasizing the strength of the USA military, I'm emphasizing that Canada has such a small population that we have more men in our military, than the entire population of Canada, in fact, almost three times the population of Canada available.

>Bullying around other countries
>with brute force and saying
>"Our army is huge" doesn't

A huge army doesn't show anything however. China's miltary totals over 300 million, more than the USA's total population. As a service-based industrial nation, there is no use in acquiring lots of resources to build with, it is better to strike up trade with neighboring countries like Canada.

My point was only this: Why would the USA annex Canada in a world crisis? Even with viable resources, it is simply not worth it. The USSR had TONS of resources, but realistically, nothing much came from it.

RE: Damnit.

Well i feel like i'm responsable too.
I did not really want to start this I was just saying that in every post-apocalyptic scenario Canada always get annexed to the USA. No offense but that's not getting original.
Iknow that the USA have a bigger population than Canada. However my point is that IMHO in the event of a major war, the US are going to be a bigger target than Canada.
Canada has more of a reputation of peace-keeping than most contries. I also know that the USA go at all the same place than Canada, but you have the contry that other people likes to hat.

It's just like Eric Lindros, he was a good player(crybaby did not want to play for quebec) however he was the player that everybody liked to hate and nail. So now his career is over no matter what he says that he's alright and can come back to play anytime. He might have maybe been as good as Lemieux or even Gretzky (two canadians btw) but hte difference is that everybody respected Lemieux and Gretzky, few wanted to take a shot at them even tough they could have. Nobody ever held back on Lindros.

You could also replace Lindros by the USA in the above paragraph and Lemieux and Gretzky by Canada.Sort of...
