Cut Scene Issues (FO1) -other graphics too

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
System in question is an IBM R30 Thinkpad Celleron Mobile 900 MHz, 386 MB RAM, 30 GB HDD, Windows XP SP2, DX 9 (I think). Oh yeah, graphics adaptor is a "Trident Cyberblade". Eh, just look here: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Trident_CyberBlade_Aladdin_i1


OK, this is a weird one, but altogether minor. When I start the game the graphics will be fine for a second (quite literally) and then the colors will go all "rainbow" (Just like the cut scenes in the Fallout 2 speedrun video I'm sure you've all seen). But this carries over into the game, with all whites behaving this way. If I quit the game and come back, everything works perfectly.
 
A friend of mine had a similar problem a few months ago. In his case, it was because his graphics card was burning out. (Never spill a can of Pepsi into a pc!)

I don't know if this is your problem or not. He found out by temporarily disabling his graphics card and playing on the built-in equipment for a while. You might try that.

Hrm... don't THINK any of the video stuff is disabled but this is worth looking into -common logic says leave all that stuff enabled unless something goes wrong, but I will check because I honestly can't give the state of the video settings offhand. At any rate the display on this particular computer is weird -fullscreen DOS apps (i.e. ADOM) have their colors "shifted". The really weird thing is still that once you run the game and quit, you can run it again and it's fine.

Have you read the thread? Because if you had you'd have seen that disabling the video card or directx support could *solve* the issue.

Yes.

But then it becomes a non-issue. It's easier to quit and close Fallout once each session than it is to fuck with an internal setting just to play one game -and thereby screw all others. Fortunately it IS a non-issue at this point.
