PRAGUE — One Sunday, several months ago, early risers gazing at Czech Television’s CT2 channel saw picturesque panoramas of the Czech countryside, broadcast to the wordless accompaniment of elevator music. It was the usual narcoleptic morning weather show.

Then came the nuclear blast.

Across the Krkonose Mountains, or so it appeared, a white flash was followed by the spectacle of a rising mushroom cloud. A Web address at the bottom of the screen said Ztohoven.com.

This is old, it was a long prepared hack by some video editors and hackers to alter the newsfeed and play a recording.

old, and fake.
but cool, amirite?

Hm, I searched the forum but couldn't find anything related to that.

Maybe thats new

Now half a dozen members of the group face up to three years in jail or a fine or both, charged with scaremongering and attempted scaremongering. The trial is set for March.

It clearly shows that nukes and other weapons of mass destruction are inhuman and their use is unacceptable.

Oh yeah? No shit.

I bet the US Goverment will stop their nuclear program right away after this post.

There is no "Czechoslovakia", ya 'tard. :D

As for the video, I find it awesomely funny. A shame the Czechs that want to put them in jail don't have a sense of humor. Which is weird, their language is absolutely hilarious.

Atomovka Bombecka!

Yeah, all those ck's and v's. For me, hearing Czech-speak is like hearing a little baby talk. xD

Anyroad, this shit is grate, if with a huge, gray beard.

I thought that Polish is far more hilarious than Czech, but this whole problem looks like a dead end. Generally, all the Slavonic countries should be very proud of their languages. :D
Anyway, fuck, Czechoslovakia... welcome to 1990. What a NDR fascist. :revolution:

To the problem: yes, it was quite ridiculous and really interesting example of home-gadgetry. The jail part obviously sucked.

Yay! Sigged.

Imagine what would happen if everyone would be hijacking programs and giving false alarms.

No offense meant, dude. When talking Polish to babies, with all the "eetsy weetsy" suffixes and prefixes, it sounds mildly Czech.

To illustrate it further, in Poland, we call Batman "Batman". I hear you dudes call him "Netoperek", which roughly means "cute little bat" in Polish.

Hi-la-ri-ty.

It must have taken them alot of work not only to hack the news, but also make that animation. Of course alot of people were scared, but I guess if you don't live there it is funny just like something bad happening to anyone you don't care about is always funny. No I'm not tring to be snide just watch your regional "ZOMG he landed on his head!" type of show.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Just to clear one thing - like Wooz said, no offense intended, it simply IS kinda funny. (Hence the "xD")

It's netopyr (netopýr), something similar to 'netoperek' would probably say an old person speaking in some kind of a Moravian slang influenced by Polish .-)

Also, they didn't hack any news. There are about hundred cameras scattered throughout the Czech Republic mainly in the mountains, they are used for weather reports in the winter. The incident took place in
autumn, and the broadcasting was early in the morning for a channel with almost no viewers - so the cameras weren't secured in any way and they were cycling through an automatic program, probably.

Would you like to play a game of chess?

I applaud these hackers. They pulled off a fantastic stunt!

PS the first thing we'd notice in a nuclear strike is the lack of electronic devices working. Including this camera.

Oh fuck! How did this happen?!

Normaly I pay attention to that, but this time... .

Well uhm... that was meant as a word play... yeah exactly! See "Czechoslovakia got nuked" hence, it doesn't exist anymore... just like, you know ... now, you know?

PS:
May anyone be so kind and correct my mistake?

Yeah I know that, when I speak German I say Tschechien and not Tschechoslowakei... I just didn't pay any attention when I wrote it in English this time. No offense.

Leave it as it is.

Wooz, Spanish for booby-trapped car sounds like "kitten bomb", so show some compassino :D

Madbringer, you grate your shit? I prefer mine flushed. Or dried.

Iii (rhymes with "pee" or "why"?) leave the title as it is, it's "more funnier" that way.

Also: Luke, ja sem twoj tatinek!

A long time ago, maybe in the mid-80s, I saw something on TV about a group of terrorists holding a city ransom with a nuke. The whole thing was framed as a live newsfeed, and the twist was that after a SWAT team killed the terrorists and tried to disarm the bomb, it went off, and then the program went on for some time as a realistic portrayal of dealing with a nuclear disaster. It was kinda creepy at the time. Anyone remember this or know what it was called?
