Dawn of War 2 peoples!

Ravager69

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Thanks to Makenshi, I have just found out that Warhammer 40 000: Dawn of War, my favorite RTS game of all times, will have a sequel (no, not another add-on)!!

http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?t=187006 here's the info

So....what would you like to see in the game, what do you think about the facts already known etc. - all such posts are highly welcome here!

I look forward to crushing Enemies of Man under my Space Marine boot.

Faith is eternal.

And I have scans, dude ;)

If the moderators allow, I'll post them (if not, tell me your e-mail and I'll send them) - I don't think that german mag will know about this in a Fallout fan-site - and prosecute NMA ^^

I didn't make the scans, thought; they're on the web, out of control by now.

I dunno, there's a couple of things in that article (CoH unit AI could mean Company of Heroes or City of Heroes >.>) also it sounds like they're putting more import on squad commanders than before where they were just an addon that boosted the squad earlier.

What I would love to see is the ability to build your own army, rather than use pre-set armies, however I don't think they're going to do that, sounds like they're focusing on the wargear instead of army dynamics.

All in all though, next time I'm in EB I'm pre-ordering DoW2 nonetheless.

/slaps Makenshi.

Dude, make that picture smaller, it's breaking the thread.

this game looks promising. i always liked warhammer and have pretty much seen all the games, I thin that relic has done a great job with the previous games and this one is not gonna fall behind. I like the idea of getting some titans on the game and some space battles. Warhammer isn't just about land battles with small armies. They should increase the overall army cap, make the maps larger for more extended battles and finally putting those titans to work and let us get more baneblades. Although i am only talking about the space marines (with the baneblade the imperial guard) because those are the ones i use the most some improvements in orks, eldars and chaos space marines are always welcome. The chaos space marines have their one titans and the orks their battle fortresses. One race i would really like to see in the game was the Tau (don't really know why but i find myself wanting to fight alongside the tau and see what they can do). The game probably is still a good time away since soulstorm was released recently and they want to get some profit out of it before they release a new game of Warhammer. All in all i am really loking forward for this game.

Wow...
That thing could be THE personification of Satan, anytime, anywhere.

Ok... I actually do like Titans but thats too big for me to be done with the classic relic games formula...

Is that mod going to Final Liberation style just in the DOW engine?

I'm going to ignore this game until it's released in order to avoid any and all high expectations resulting from the hype.

But still.. :D

Warhammer 40.000 is diverse, indeed; but Dawn of of War is about trenched warfare in the W40k universe; adding aircraft in Sousltorm was mistake enough - it could have been well done at least, but nooo! Let's make hoovers! ¬¬

For me a good warhammer game (although the existing one is very good) is a game where you can control vast armies across a very large territory. That is a very big part of warhammer since to conquer a planet you have to bleed like hell on land. Space battles would be a good thing too. I think that since relic is making Dawn of War 2 they could really see what the game has missing and implement it. But now there is a problem. Now, i don't really know how the game will come out but if there were bigger armies, bigger maps and the so called Titans what would happen when the Titan came face to face with a heavily armed group of space marines and vehicles? The Titan would squash them in a second.

This is just my opinion and i like it ,but also i want to see how this game is gonna evolve in the next year and see what Relic can make out of the huge Warhammer Universe.

Hehehehehe Gargants, Titans, STCs, and AIs (maybe? :D) Oh my!

I'd love to see an AI race aside from the necrons which really aren't an AI, just bodily replaced living beings with mental alterations, they -were- alive at one time, but I'm talking about true AIs, you know, the ones that can become symbiotic with living humans, the ones that the Mecundium destroys on discovery due to their 'heresy' (Lack of STC for them...).

Chaos could do with more varying types of daemons, as they rely on the chaos marines a tad too much, rather than the daemon possessing the marine's body.

A mutant faction would be awesome (made up of the hive mutants, various chaos experiments, and Emperor knows what else)

I'd also like to see those critters from murder be a playable race, as well as...

Ah I could go on but odds are it's not gonna happen :P :D

Tyranids would be a good option for a race. Although i think buildings would be a difficulty think to invent. Even so, imagine dozens of Tyranids all together attacking a space marine squad.

You know what, the thought just struck me for DoW 2, they have the framework to add as many races as they want right, why not instead of releasing the framework independently every few months, develop the races for the root game.

For example, 10 bucks a race right, the basic Dow 2 comes with Space marines, Chaos Marines, Eldar, and Orks right, 10 bucks gets you Imperial Guard, 10 bucks gets you the T'au, 10 bucks gets you the Necrons, 10 bucks gets you Tyrranids, 10 bucks gets you SoB, 10 bucks gets you the Dark Eldar, ad infinitum.

After that you start releasing campaigns for 15 bucks a piece, so for example you can offer a Space Marine campaign, an IG campaign, a Chaos campaign, etc.

IF they make the armies buildable in pieces (like the tabletop system) per squad, then you would simply be unlocking new pieces per army. after X amount of completed campaigns for a particular race it could unlock specific units for that faction (or as a bonus for completing that campaign)

It would be an effing goldmine and probably the pinnacle of DLC.

You could also release Race Packs on DVD for 30-40 bucks including the race + 1-2 campaigns for DoW 2.

It would make the modders rejoice as well at the modular design, allowing pieces to be unofficially added to armies or even make their own unofficial armies making every single 40K nut in the world happier than a pig in chit.

For the mod packs, you would not need an authorization key to install, but the official ones could still prompt for an authorization code for each race, or they could short-track it if they buy it online at relic and simply do it for them, making life extremely easy for the people who buy & download it legit versus those who try to pirate it they have to go through a sea of prompts asking them to register each and every army & campaign.

I'm not a DRM fan, as I know how it can futz up a good game something fierce with all it's draconian methods, but at the same time this should at least stem the tide of those who download as it's easier just to drop 10 bucks to get the army and it'll be downloaded in a half-hour.

Plus those that are tangible media buffs (myself included) can get the race packs on DVD although it'll be a rough ride, I'm sure I can handle two or three codes for my eccentricity...

I want to play DoW 2, not WoW 2. You know, some people can't afford buying stuff all the time. I suppose releasing big add ons like Dark Crusade or Soulstorm is the fairest way IMO. And much easier.

Umm, at 10 bucks a pop, CANADIAN, not EURO, freaking 'ell, I can afford that on 8.50 an hour there's no bloody reason why nobody with a decent computer can't.

And that's only for the official stuff.

As it is you're paying more than that per race and only one campaign per race.

By my figures Winter Assault should have costed about 25 bucks, DC, 35 bucks, Soulstrom, another 35 bucks...

Canadian...

A fin a race, I'm not opposed to that, compared to what we're paying now per race for DoW.

Has anyone tried any of the DOW mods
made by the community? seems like they
have quite an active modding community .....
Any good 'uns?
