And maybe Image too but that doesn't look as dramatic in the title does it?

The past decade we saw an unprecedented onslaught of comic book goodness that has almost overwhelmed us with varying degrees of success. We all know what Marvel did and what DC then did, so where does it go from here? People are getting burnt out a bit with the stale ass formula Marvel worked up. We have talk of a R rated Spawn movie in the works and with recent R rated hits like Deadpool and soon to be Logan, we can hedge our bets on R rated comic book flicks being the new fad...which is pretty cool if they do it right. What say you NMA?

How are their games? Marvel is rebooting their video game division and possibly doing a new Ultimate alliance style game. The new Arkham rumor got me to thinking of this so I Figured we could talk about some of that over here. What other properties do they own that they could be using? Where does Image stand? They appear to be rebooting Youngblood I think. I always wanted to see Supreme get his shot. What about Sandman? Is that still being made?

Who has the better comics? Marvel is sucking it up aside from a few comics with all the SJW shit. DC I unfortunately have not followed in years due to the continuity shock. Where the fuck do I start? :)

There are other publishers of course and they can be spoken of in hushed whispers here as well.

I do think Marvel games is going to be in trouble because they have rebooted their series with Telltale games and Eidios - both having had some serious missteps lately. DC, unfortunately, has nothing but Arkham Asylum.

Marvel wins the movies hands down - No argument
DC wins the television series hands down - Unless you consider Netflix, Marvel has done extremely well there.

I only read the comics of marvel. It feels as if they are planning on retiring older hereos as they are bringing in quite a lot of younglings, some of which flat out replace heroes. If it wasnt for some of their idiotic sjw bullshit id be more intruiged by it. Basically at least making some kind of attempt at moving the world forward.

I dunno, DC never did the same for me like Marvel when it come to the heroes, outside of Batman really, maybe Superman but ... well that one was done so shitty over the years ...
All the while Marvel has Ironman, Spiderman, Thor, Hulk and many more that I find more engaging. Same with their villains. Maybe Marvel simply managed to sell their Universe better? I don't know. I just find the Marvel Universe more intriguing in general.
 
I've always been a Marvel fan, but my love for Marvel... it's a rocky relationship.
We want to see other people but find we're happier together, we just need to sort things out.
You can say Marvel does these little things that thinks it's cute, but they are just really annoying.

So I'm going to start with films, generally, Marvel are killing it (just look at the flop that is the DC Cinematic Universe, of which I need to see the damage).
Saying that, my favourite comic adaptation is The Dark Knight, but the Marvel films are big dumb fun (it's why I never got the complaints about Age of Ultron, like, yes, it is a dumb film that's also that exactly good, but that's the same for the entire series pretty much).
I get that the films aren't art, and they aren't meant to be. They are a thing to fill the time when in the right mood.
If I want to watch a film that would scratch my pretentiousness, I would watch Eraserhead, if I want to get drunk and have fun, I would watch an Avengers film.

My only problem with them... they just seem to have a massive monopoly on the market, meaning that a lot of really good films get shoved to the side for Avengers.
It just seems a bit unfair for up and coming directors and writers, it's even harder for them to make their own stuff nowadays and get the attention they deserve.
Also, these films are rushed out so they can proceed to the next one, meaning that of course they are going to be sloppy. So I can understand why someone would outright hate them, for me, they just make me feel 12 again, watching shitty YouTube videos of some idiot splicing scenes from Spider-man and X-Men to show "The Big Avengers fight". Point goes to Marvel.

For the TV shows... eh.... I don't really watch either. I saw a few episodes of SHIELD and it was good, Daredevil was pretty amazing, but again, I've never been interested in the characters DC have, so their TV would never appeal to me. Although I will say that I do want to see Gotham. I'm not going to award any points here.

Lets go for Cartoons (make this a separate category), the only cartoons I ever really enjoyed from Marvel were X-Men, Spider-Man and the later half of the Iron Man cartoons. While DC had Batman, I never really watched it. But I do remember enjoying Batman of the Future a lot. Half a point to each.

In terms of Games, well, the only ones I ever had where Marvel ones, and they include stuff like Spider-Man for the PS1, Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel Ultimate Alliance. Those were pretty great fun as a kid. Replaying Ultimate Spider-Man recently however made me realise it's not as great as I remember (even through, I will say the cel-shaded art style holds up well today). Also, DC has got DC Universe Online, which is the only MMO I've ever really put any amount of time into. Point goes to Marvel if only for time being a factor.

Comics, the big one. Again, I've always been a Marvel fan, but, DC have been killing it lately with Rebirth. I got a few Batman comics (including Batman & Robin eternal, which is the only American On-going I ever completed, kind of an On-going), and they are for the most part, really good. Marvel have always been more... comicy with their approach, you know you're going into a Marvel comic and reading something insanely dumb. Look at Dan Slott's run on Spider-Man, he brought together a bunch of Spider-Men and it was just fun. It's what I look to in comics. At the same time, Watchmen is still one of the best pieces of fiction out there.

So it's kind of hard, I'm going to go with DC with this, even through I prefer Marvel, I can't stand where Marvel are going and I really want to love them, but DC just seems to be doing a lot better.
Saying that, Marvel does look like it's reforming, leaving the politics out which is a good sign.

If we were going for 60/70's, it would be Marvel all the way.
80's would be a stretch and the 90's would probably go to Image (if only because of Spawn issue 29, look it up, one of the best things I've read).
00's would be Marvel again, but lately, it's DC.

However, it's not DC, point to Marvel, if only because Rebirth brought Watchmen into the DC canon. Can they just leave that fucking series alone?

As for heroes- Well, DC just has Batman that I like, while Marvel has plenty others.
So I guess Marvel wins this.

And that is off of the top of my head and I could probably think of a lot more than that. In fact, as I'm typing this sentence I just remembered MILF Captain Marvel and Barely Legal Captain Marvel. And She-Hulk. Oh, HULK! I can't believe I almost forgot that. And Hawkeye... I'm done now.

If you don't like some Marvel comics then that's fine cause there are dozens to choose from and hell, if you want to go into all the various volumes and former big sellers there are probably hundreds.

But with DC the selection is a bit more limited.

Personally I never got into any of it. Green Lantern is some dude with a magic ring who's part of some cosmic force out in space or something. Doesn't interest me. Flash runs fast.... That's all? Ok, next! Batman! The Mary Sue. I don't like him. Super-Man! No thanks, if I want to read a story about a god among men then I'll just re-read uh... Fuck, I forgot what it is called... There's this hero dude who's kind of a dark satire of Super-Man who snaps and starts murdering people for shits and giggles. It's either an Image or Dark Horse comic. Anyway, I'll just go read that.

Not saying DC is bad. It's just that the premise of their comics aren't interesting to me at first glance or even after I've gotten to know more about them. :shrug:

No this shit is pissing me off, there is this comic where it starts off with some super-powered dude murdering a family and then it moves on to his former team-mates speaking to a dude who's risen from the grave and trying to get him to give some kind of help as to how to defeat him.

What is this comic? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Marvel clearly wins at movies, the DCEU is a poor and transparent attempt to replicate the MCU success. It was doomed to fail from the start because they obviously don't have the patience to build up the universe before just shoving EVERYTHING into our faces. Starting with Avengers would've been foolish and that's basically what they tried.
I don't care about current Marvel and DC comics at all. Why would I read this crap when there's much better stuff around. And no, I don't want to read the Batman/Flash/Watchmen crossover. Fuck that shit. Alan Moore is probably gonna kill himself just so he can turn in his grave over this.
