Deus Ex Human Revolution trailer released

I've been reading up on DX:HR for a while now, and I'm getting more and more hopeful about how this game will turn out. If anyone wants some additional reading, video's and interviews, here are some recommendations:

GDC 10: New Deus Ex: Human Revolution Details
Deus Ex: Human Revolution Interview: Jonathan Jacques-Belletete
Deus Ex: Human Revolution And The Soul Of Deus Ex 1
Will We See Familiar Characters In Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

I'm getting more and more of a Deus Ex vibe from all that. It won't be Deus Ex 1, but it shouldn't be too similar anyway. I mean, moments like these were great and hilarious, but you just can't do that anymore in a modern game. Some of the voice acting in DX1 was so atrociously bad it turned funny, but that shouldn't be replicated.

Game Director Jean-Francois Dugas has said that a player can make his or her way through the entirety of Deus Ex: Human Revolution without killing a single person. Belletete added that players can also choose to not augment their bodies if they wish.

I think 10 years of stress in my body just seemed to disappear.

reading some of that makes me thing this might not turn out so bad afterall. but it's hard to know how much truth is in a developer's words these days, unfortunately.

at least they're trying to stay true to the first game. not telling us that we don't want to play another such game in these modern times.

"Over 200 endings!"

Well, anyway. I'm actually looking forward to how this one turns out now, it definitely won't be as departed from the franchise as XCOM will be to its own.

Well, judging by that leak, apparently Deus Ex 3 is Metal Gear Solid 5.

Better than IW though.

If there is one thing i loved about the latest trailer then it has to be the damn music.

Michael Mccann(aka Behaviour) fucking rocks!

The fucking technology and systems I'm seeing being implemented in this game are amazing. These gaming mechanics are not new, but they are refined into what they should be. This shit is amazing, and I hope the actual content being supported by them hold as much weight.

Anyways I hope it's not another one of those 8 hour long rent and forget games. It should be longer than either of the first 2, or it is not an improvement.

I really want this to be good, but I dunno. If you remember, Invisible War had the same level of hype at E3 and it wasn't closed off from the public.

I'd prefer they made a 2-3 hour movie after watching that awesome trailer a few times. The game itself looks a little too hand-holdey(new word!) for my taste. I'm not gonna pay $50 for the game to play itself for 10 hours, but I would pay $10 to watch a really good computer animated movie in the Deus Ex universe.

I saw some leaked gameplay footage of the game and it looked really awesome! The guy who played it was using stealth most of the time and it worked pretty well. Unfortunatly i looked for it again right now and it seems they have removed it from the net.

Maybe you've dreamed it?

I watched the same demo footage a couple days ago and shared it on #fallout. It's very....bland. Tons of random cutscenes and scripted "takedown" moves where the game takes control for a few seconds to complete kills. Terrible. The overall look is great and the levels are big and detailed. But a game where it feels like the developers are playing for you, no thanks.

I posted a link to exactly that footage some posts above.

Remember, if it's a new sequel to a game from the 90's to early 2000's, you have to bitch about EVERYTHING because it's not about having fun and playing a game as much as it complaining about every aspect of it whether it has changed or not. Happened with Team Fortress 2 ("Waaaah no grenades! Waaaah no bunnyhopping! Waaaaah random crits!") and it's happening with Deus Ex 3.

I can see this complaining as being reasonable if the genre of the game randomly changes (X-COM from Tactical Turn-Based to Bioshock: Blob Shooter and Fallout from A Post-Apocalyptic RPG to Oblivion with Guns), but Deus Ex is still an FPS.

Wait...why are you posting at NMA?
