Doom 3 Goes Gold (Warning - Spoilers Within)

Cool, good to see that it's finally ready to go. For awhile I was convinced that it and HL2 were just going to haunt the gaming world like ghosts for the next 10 years.
 
I never thought I'd live to see this day.

Now we get to see if it lives up to the media hype, and Half-Life 2 will ever be released, finally allowing Troika's Vampire: Bloodlines to hit the shelves.
 
the only real issue i've got with doomIII is that it's scripted to hell

it ll be damn scary, playing on hard the first time out, fighting for your life

but each game will be exactly the same after that, which is a damn shame
 
I fear it will just be a graphics hype, like Max payne,
Although I did enjoy it, (with kungfu mod :P) it lifespawn made it way to short. I just hope it will have interesthing things to offer.

I`m starting to feel the same, even the gaming mags guys that played the x-box code were disapointed in how scripted and repetitive things were, let`s wait and see.

I`ll probably use it as a 3d benchmark program :)
 
Ooo, sounds like they rushed it out just like that. Good reviews though apparently. But now i'll have to upgrade my PC. Dammit.
 
According to Slashdot, this thing requires 384 mb of RAM, a 1.5Ghz processor and no less than a GeForce 3. Don't most people have the last two things on that list already?
 
From what I've seen of Doom 3, it looks pretty impressive, but I seriously doubt the graphical engine is particularly groundbreaking, especially considering that XBox can run the game. So unless Doom 3 is some kind of a programming miracle, it will probably be graphically weaker than Far Cry.
 
I was saying that the minimum requirements seem a little a low, if you didn't gather that from the fact I said "Don't most people have the last two things on that list already?"
 
Ratty, they're making a different version of Doom 3 for the Xbox, and it looks less impressive graphically, which is why I'll buy the PC version (if I ever buy the damned thing).

of course it is less impressive, the xbox is based on old graphics hardware

they are now 2 generations behind i believe
 
Its finally out! Where anyplace except Sweden, I event think Korea has it relesed.
Anyway Im gonna but this game but till it comes to Sweden im gonna..........*and with a flash Snake is gone, the mighty gods removed the abomination*
 
I've been playing it since yesterday and it's worth the money, believe me! I'll buy it as soon as it hits a shelf near me. Scared the hell out of me several times already.

And yes, you can play it quite well on a mid-range computer. xp2400+, 512ddr266 and ti4200 can't run Farcry very well but Doom 3 rocks at 800x600, medium detail. And it's beautiful, even at 640x480 w/o antialising.. great, great game so far. It reminds me of System Shock 2.. very, very dark.. and spooky! Besides that, it's as simple as it goes... get them before they get you, shoot, duck, hide, shoot again...

And please don't ask me how I got the game, ok? It's a great game, I'll buy it the second I see it in a store, believe me.
