Duckman plays Gears of War

Duckman

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
OMFG teh orsum!

This game has got to be the best game on the Xbox 360 to date. The graphics are great, the back story, while it has it's faults, is quite amazing and the general gameplay is great.

I actually bought as the Collectors Edition for AU$90, and it came with it's own art book and story. Anyone else played this and share my enthusiasm?

The game looks cool. I had really hoped to get one of the 100 dollar xbox 360s from Amazon just to play this game (and the well received rainbow six game) but alas, no luck :(. I guess I'm stuck hearing how much you like it until I get the cash for a 360.

Got it a week ago. It's fun and I like that it has the split screen. i haven't played it online but I hear that's fun too. it's way too short though and the story could be more developed. Otherwise, it's pretty good as far as action games go. Overall, I liked it.

I played it at my Ukrainian friend's house last weekend. He was a lot more excited by it than me. It's fun to play it with people but, i dunno, I guess I just can't get that into console games.

I hope it isn't too short, I have yet to finish it, and I'm loving every minute of it.

I watched some clips of ingame action on youtube. All in all I was pretty impressed by the graphics and what I could interpret of the general 'feel' and 'flow' of the game. BUT... I haven't been a console person since the N64.. that was the last of the money i wasted on consoles.

And just a thought on why a few are saying the story line is short. Its a console game? heh.. they wanna bleed as much money out of you for that one title. so.. there gonna make up an alaborate lore for the game.. and give a teaser as the first release.. then 1-2 more additions will be released on the 360 with room for more releases on the next xbox :P

thats just my piece of mind on that.

Heh, funny you should mention that they may make a series out of it, as I read a review somewhere that said they will probably milk it for what it's worth depending on the initial popularity of the game.

The ending is a great set up for a sequel, it basically tells you that one is definitely planned. I rather liked it.
There is no doubt that they will try to squeeze as much money out of people as possible. Nothing is really surprising anymore, they charged money to download horse armor update for Oblivion on Xbox live ($2 or $2.50, not sure). It could be that GOW people decided to split what should have been one game into a few to make more money, which would explain why it's short. Even before it was released, it stank with all that commercial bullshit but the matter of fact is the game is fun. The action is pretty good, especially in split screen, and there are some twists to keep you from getting bored. Overall, I dont like what the game represents but I like the game.

I'm so fed up with consoles... There just turning into a cheap pc gaming machines.. They got online play now. Which was exclusive on the pc until.. I guess the ps2 with later games. But soon. mark my words.. consoles and pc's will become one. Then games will be 2 levels long.. costing $100 dolars U.S. and the sequels will run you another 50 dollars for another 2 levels. [/sarcasm]

Do everyone a favor and boycot Consoles. Buy pc exclusivel!

I'm surprised nobody has called them on it being just like Kill.switch.

Well, according to here
it sounds as if they're going to be adding some nice enhancements to Gears of War and hopefully make it a running franchise. I wonder if these enhancements will be cool or more of a "pay 2 dollars to make your character teh coolness to teh totally XTREME"

I was thinking the same exact thing when I watched a vid of the game on youtube..

But then again.. Kill.switch Was.... Reeaally bad.

The gameplay and mechanics were good, the execution was bad. Given the right story and graphics it would have been great. As it was, unpolished at best.
