Enschede Fireworks Disaster Video

the last stuff = "you're now looking at the images in slow-mo, revealing the true magnitude & force of the explosion. the roofs are literally blown off the houses."

I hope the town came togehter in one big orgy after that. That would be the true Dutch way of overcoming adversity.

Uh.

How many people died when this thing went off? Moreover, how long did the pyrotechnician in charge went to jail for, if he wasn't blasted into confetti?

Pyrotechnician? Nope, it was a fireworks warehouse that went up in flames, for as far as I know the case is still going, although I haven't really followed it.

I believe 22 people died that day. Not a lot, but a lot of Enschede was wrecked, and it's still considered a disaster.

It's a shame there isn't a better quality video for this. It's quite the spectacle, and shows exactly how 'serious business' pyrotechnics is.

This is why we do things on barges in Louisiana.

As I said, it's not pyrotechnics. It's a warehouse that went on fire where they stored firewroks. It was not, I repeat, not a show.

C'mon guv, you beat me within the span of seconds.

So did this really happen five years ago? I wouldn't imagine an arson case taking this long to investigate.

Well, the point is that it isn't arson either. It was really an accident, but gross negligence was involved on the side of the company storing the fireworks, problems with whether or not they adhered the legal rules and since it was a company, they needed to figure out who was reponsible for what part of breaking the law within the company.
I'm not too well-informed on the details, though, I think Kharn could probably correct me on a lot of things.

That whole shit is weird.

The fire was allegedly started by a pyromaniac. He got 15 years, but got aquitted in an appeal 1 year later.

I don't think anything has happened since then.

The moral of this story is that a fireworks factory has no business being near a town. The asshole who lit the fire should have been sent to prison for 300 years for killing 22 people not let out after serving a year or better yet he should have been shot. Liberal judiciary be damned.

Nah, the moral of the story is that fireworks are FUN!
The last explosion was THE awesomage :D

A police warehouse where they stored all the weapons that people turned in after the war blew up a few years back in my city. Nothing as bad as this Enschede fiasco, but still, neighbouring buildings got pretty damaged and the explosions went on through the whole night.

I though that the apocalypse had begun but than I heard on the radio it was just a warehouse. :(
