Ensemble Studios Closure Confirmed

GameIndustry.biz's Phil Elliott got ahold of a leaked email reportedly sent out by Microsoft Game Studios' General Manager Phil Spencer regretfully addressing the closure of Halo Wars developer Ensemble Studios following that game's forthcoming release in 2009. While the email states that the leadership of Ensemble Studios will go on to form a new, smaller "entity," some Ensemble employees may not find places within Microsoft Game Studios.

Well this bites! I hope the devs can start up a new company and start making new AOE games.

Meh. The Age of Empires series peaked with AoE 2, so it's not that bad.

Ok it wasn't that bad but it wasn't the best of the bunch.

Don't kill me for supposed heresy but... AoE3 was the best, imo. I had no love for AoE 2, and hated AoE1. AoMithology was great as well.

Maybe it's because I love guns and the 17th century scenario. And because I didn't go into muliplayer (Dawn of War rules in that field, and I don't risk trying anything else).
