EU expansion

Rohan

Still Mildly Glowing
Today Poland, Slovakia, Chech Republic, Hungary, Malta, Lithuania and some other countries (I don't remember which at the moment) joined the European Union which now has a few millions of inhabitants more. All the statistics changed: unemployment is now 1% bigger, etc.

Everything reminds here of it: half of news' say: "we are in UE". I can see a group of people standing around and talking about it every 100 meters.

I'm sick of it. I don't see in it any reason to be proud of. Poland currently has great loans, almost 20% of people are unemployed. They all are either so down that they think nothing can help them or they believe that the fact will magically heal the country.

Poland is indeed a country of extremes.

When we joined the EU unemployment was reaching 10%, inflation was around 20%, and we were oficially a developing country, wich means we were on the poorest of the world list.

Unemployment now goes from 4 to 6%, inflation is always on the 2/3 % range, and we`re 22 on the UN index of development, just behing South Corea, wich means we`re relatively high as a developed country, and are members of the Eurozone, the area with less inequality in the world. No wonder you are talking about it, many changes are coming. Just be carefull with the Germans in general and the french agriculture lobby and you`ll be fine.

Good luck
