F1 or F2 to a usb memory stick?

Is it possible to install Fallout 1/2 to an usb memory stick?


I play F2 on 2-3 different computers depending if I am at home/work/traveling. It would be easier to have the game in one place instead of making sure I have 3 identical setups and remembering to copy the latest savegame to take with me.

Yes it is, at least with a manual install. I haven't tried with the installer, but don't see why that wouldn't work too.
The game will load a bit slower, but not 97/98 slow.

Since you intend to play it on multiple PCs the assigned drive letter for you USB may differ.

To get around that you need to edit your fallout2.cfg to not look for any drive letters.
So make the paths look like this and everything will be fine:

music_path1=data\sound\music\
music_path2=data\sound\music\

critter_dat=critter.dat
critter_patches=data

master_dat=master.dat
master_patches=data

yes I have both on my USB the only reason I cracked Fallout 1 is because of having it on my USB while playing it at break time at my course heh heh.
