F3 Game of the Year Edition with all DLC Announced

The Vault Dweller

always looking for water.
For those of you who waited to get F3 in order to buy all the DLC in one package this is for you. Also there are reports on the release dates for the Playstation 3 version. The Vault:

Bethesda Softworks has announced that the Fallout 3 Game of the Year edition, which will include all add-ons, will be released on October 13, 2009. We also know what the box of the GotY edition will look like. In the US, the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions will cost $59.99, while the PC version will cost $49.99.

We also know the release dates of all add-ons on the PlayStation 3. Broken Steel will unfortunately not be released today, but next week - on September 24, followed by Operation: Anchorage and The Pitt on October 1 and by Point Lookout and Mothership Zeta on October 8.

Along with it comes news of the Playstation 3 patch 1.61:

1.6.1 patch for the PlayStation 3 version of Fallout 3 has just been released, which probably means that Broken Steel will be released on the Sony platform soon. Stay tuned for more information.

Upon loading up the game, you are prompted to update the game and the download will begin. It is roughly 21MB.

Features:

* Adds the trophies to the actual trophy menu so you no longer need to compare trophies to see them.
* Another feature is the addition of the Downloads section under the main menu.

Special thanks to a duo of informants who all sent this in at once. Ausir (caretaker of The Vault wiki) and Mark Honeyborne.

Yaaay. That's all I really have to say.

At least I don't feel compelled to trade in my older copy for it.

I wouldn't buy it either way, but I'm curious how much some one would have paid if they didn't wait and purchased everything piecemeal. Over a $100 for the game plus DLC?

Their business unit really knows how to milk this thing.

So basically PS3 users have to buy the game again if they want to play the ( shitty ) DLCs...

...and they will.

Genius !

Yeah but back to my questions, if you get everything for $59.99 Vs. buying everything individually (5 or so DLCs at $10+ each?) do you actually ending up saving money even if you re-purchase FO3 for the GOTY?

I'd expect most people who want the DLCs already have the main game, so it doesn't work out cheaper for them at least.

The game itself plus DLCs? Nothing more? No shiny boxes and amazing bobbleheads? Bethesda, you're disappointing me...

I'm a ps3 owner with Fallout 3 and I'm wondering if there will be a special package of all 5 DLCs without the main game? Like individually they'd be 60$ but are they going to do something special like bundle them all together for something like 30$?

Or are you just going to try to milk me dry Bethesda. Meh, I'll just wait until you reduce the prices or I'll just not buy it.

I believe Gstaff mentioned on the bethblog/forums that you could buy the DLC seperately. You'll probably have to buy them in 2's (O:A/Pitt and Broken Steel/Point Lookout). Mothership Zeta is the only one that's GOTY only, but that's okay, because it's shit anyway.

I really wouldn't get this if it were free. I can't even make myself play Fallout 3 for achievements. I wish I didn't buy it on Steam so I could sell it.

I don't think you would get much of your investment back, I see plenty of adds for used regular copies and special edition copies.

I saw both individual DLC packages in a game store a few days ago.

For $30 each.

Put them together and it costs more than an expansion (which usually costs $50) with only a shred of the total content of an expansion.

Their marketing department should get some sort of award for this.

Anyone else find it rather sad that you have one company, Interplay, that could make amazing games, but had shitty marketing; and another company, Bethesda, that makes shitty games, but has amazing marketing?

If only Black Isle had been owned by someone who knew what the fuck they were doing on the business side of things, the gaming landscape would look quite different today.
