Fairly weird Fallout 3 screens, Chapter two.

Our Czech brethren bring us...

TPGC: Did you consult any of the original Fallout developers?
PH: No...I mean, we've spoken with some of them, but at the end of the day the people making the game have to buy into it. Obviously there was a lot of stuff there to look at in terms of reference material, so what those chairs look like, if you go back and play the original Fallout, that's exactly what they look like in the original vault. A lot of it was just our folks taking a look at what that game or those games had done and then did their best to bring that into a first or third-person 3D environment.
There's also 'October 2008' as a shipping date, not Fall. Might be the magazine's interpretation or a new confirmed date, this is unknown.

Spotted on Vault of Mad Brahmin, where you can find other scanned pages (6 pages + 1 cover). Thanks JaW.

What's with the 2k2 graphics? I don't remember the game being this ugly, from the demo.

Cheers, Jesterka. Though I don't know if thanks is in order.

The interview is hilarious. Very "*slurping noise* Oh Pete Hines you are the greatest" Pete just can't get over his chair story, either. I thought it was 4 pixels in the original, so I don't see how this story works...It's still a mystery who those "some of them" Bethesda spoke to are.

PS: hilarious how they refer to SPECIAL-boosters as "tonics", makes it sound like a BioShock rip-off.

I've barely started reading it and already I wish I was reading something a little more interesting.
Like that article advertised on the front page called Hardcore Housewives. :wiggle:

Well, if this is the best what they are able to show, we can step back on the Van Buren's grave (as far as step forward ever happened).

Haven't seen nothing interesting since... maybe those Game Informer scans. Oh noes, I must be blind!

Ugly, ugly screenshots. And I don't just mean the scans, I mean the general presentation.

TWO, count them, two shots with those terrible-looking future orcs...er, I mean super mutants.... Because they totally looked like that in FO 1 and 2. Or would have if Interplay had been able to work beyond the technical limitations of the time. Amirite?

Yes. And I have to say, seeing it in still-shot, I can't for the life of my figure out what's with that helmet on that mutant's head?

I mean, how much of a non sequitur is that?

I know.... it looks like a bad throwback to some sort of 80s cyberpunk implant or something. Worse than the Shredder armor-wearing supermutant from about a month back.

That does sound intellectually stimulating.
It's stimulating, but not exactly intellectually. :wiggle:
I could do this all night.

Anyway, seems the only interesting stuff is on the last page. (I like that Game DNA thing too, it's... cute :))

Quick summary of the rest:

First page

  • First paragraph: Big sloppy blowjob
    Second paragraph: "We like reinvention"
Second page

  • First question:
    "It looks pretty."
    "Thanks, we try"

    Second question:
"Did you talk to the original developers?"
"No, but the chairs in the game are totally the same"

    Third question:
    "Oblivions 3rd person view sucked"
"Totally, but don't worry, we copied a zombie shooter for F3's"

I have to admire Bethesda at this point for their audacity.....

And they really need to upload new screenshots....

and their fingers have magically shrunken to fit into a small gun!

what'll they think of next?!?!

for the record, I can confirm that RE4 for the Wii, does not even look this shitty.

Even if you stand about 2 inches from a big screen TV while playing it, it's still better looking than this crap.

Hey, BN said that the demo did not look shitty, It's just the screenshots. And graph1x is one of the only areas Bethesda actually excels at so I wouldn't complain about that.

Well, I dunno, Bethesda has never been very good at character art. World art? Sure. But character art? Hell no.

But I can't figure out these screens. They're definitely uglier than I remember.

I really, REALLY want to hear from Chris Taylor and Tim Cain. Ask them flat out. "Really guys? Is this what you were thinking - you just couldn't make it look like this because of technical limitations?" Because I think Bethesda is full of crap.

"Hot or not?

It's true to the Fallout series.

Its not a sci-fi version of Elder Scrolls:Oblivion

It's a Bethesda RPG... need we say more?

Original Fallout purists are garanteed to be disappointed.

It will make you want to splash cash on upgrades.

You will lose many hours of your life. "

infinite lols

It seems that this time the mutant is even equiped with a helmet similar to the one that the orc in Dark Messiah : MM had.*sigh*
